JOS-NORTH/BASSA FED. CONSTITUENCY RERUN: PDP MUST GET IT RIGHT BECAUSE, ON HON. JONATHAN DABO WE STAND!–RESIDENTS

By: Valentine Adese (JP),

Most residents of Jos-North/Bassa Federal Constituency of Plateau State, have continued to express their desire, to recast their vote for Hon. Jonathan Dabo, the former candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general election, if the party represent him as their candidate in the forthcoming rerun election.

You would recall that, Jos-North/Bassa Federal Constituency of Plateau State became vacant at the National Assembly, as a result of the sudden demise of the occupant, late Hon. Haruna Maitala, who lost his life in a ghastly accident along Jos-Abuja road.

In sessions with some residents of the Constituency, they have repeatedly told REALITY that, Hon. Dabo is still their choice candidate, if only the PDP would represent him.

HON. JONATHAN DABO

According to most of them, “Hon. Dabo, won the 2019 election and those in authority know it!

“Even when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) called for a rerun, it was the lack of faith in the process that induced voters’ apathy, which cannot be ascribed to any fault of Jonathan, his team nor the PDP”.

The residents also disclosed to REALITY that, “If PDP must get it right the party must assess the environment and get the feelings of the people before taking any wrong step to replace Hon. Dabo. To our minds, if Hon. Dabo is replaced, the voters’ apathy that would be experienced, would be worse than the former”.

Adding that, “Hon. Jonathan Dabo, may not have the resources to make delegates vote for him, he might have stepped on some toes because he is human. But the rerun for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency should naturally be a Dabo race on behalf of the people.

“We are aware that this is Democracy, and everyone has equal opportunity to contest, but it should be done with human face. If the PDP truly wants to reclaim its mandate, it has to represent Jonathan Dabo unopposed!”
