Yesterday, Friday, the 9th of April, 202, saw the inauguration of the Plateau State chapter of the Society of Women In Taxation (SWIT), a female arm of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), as promised by the Executives of CITN in Plateau State, ably led by Nde Isaac Wadak.
The Investiture Ceremony and Inauguration of its 1st Chairperson in the state, at Villa Grande Hotel, Rayfield Jos, saw the National leadership of CITN and SWIT among other personalities in attendance.
While welcoming members to the ceremony, the National President of CITN who also doubles as the Special Guest of Honour, Dame Gladys Olajumoke Simplice (FCTI) and the National Chairperson of SWIT, Hajiya Kudirat Abdul-Hamid (FCTI) expressed delights and thanked the State Chairman of CITN, Nde Isaac, his team and Mr. Arlat Dashe Dasogot (FCTI, FCNA), the Executive Chairman of Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PIRS), who doubled as the Chairman of the occasion, for making the inauguration possible.
Dame, in her speech in part said, “I am indeed delighted to welcome you all to today’s event, the inauguration ceremony of SWIT, Jos Chapter of our dear Institute. The existence of this distinct arm of the Institute became necessary because our Institute is gender sensitive and has always identified with the cause of women. This is because of the eminent role women play, not only in our individual families, the Community and national development”.
The National Chairperson of SWIT, Hajiya Kudirat, on her part, while congratulating the newly inaugurated SWIT chapter, which is to be led by Mrs. Esther Nyam, charged them to kick-off activities in the chapter.
In an interview with Journalists, at the venue of the event, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Arlat Dashe Dasogot (FCTI, FCNA), disclosed that, “Statistics have been established that women have shown surprising enterprise, dogged resilience and a high sense of Composure in their various endeavours”.
Adding that, “They, therefore, require all the support and protection in facilitating the realization of their fullest potentials. This explains why the Council of the Institute has remained resolutely solid behind our women to ensuring that a platform is provided for them to exhibit their professional prowess”.
The highlight of the occasion was the inauguration proper and the follow-up dancing.
