“We wish to appeal to the state government to pay deceased Civil Servants’ death benefits, which has been long overdue.

“Our parents served the state government with high level of commitment. Their transit from this world has brought untold and excruciating hardship to us. Some of us have relocated back to the village because of house rents and feeding in the cities.

“Some of us have dropped out of school because we can no longer afford paying school fees, while some, who could have further their studies find it difficult to do so. The claimants partly stated in their letter to the Governor.

An Open Letter To the Executive Governor of Plateau State.

His Excellency,

The Executive Governor of Plateau State/the Chairman, Northern Governor’s Forum,

Rt. Hon. Dr Barr. Simon Bako LA long (KSGG).

APPEAL FOR THE PAYMENT OF DEATH BENEFITS

We wish to appeal to the state government to pay deceased civil servants’ death benefits which has been long overdue.

Our parents served the state government with high level of commitment. Their transit from this world has brought untold and excruciating hardship to us. Some of us have relocated back to the village because of house rents and feeding in the cities. Some of us have dropped out of school because we can no longer afford paying school fees while some who could have further their studies find it difficult to do so.

Over the years we have been waiting for the pension board to pay the death benefits but they kept telling us there is no money. The Plateau State Ministry of Finance and Pension Board have forgotten about us entirely.

Your Excellency, orphans and widows are crying and calling on you to come to our aid. The government can give us 50% of the entitlement to enable us address some of the challenges confronting us while we await the final payment.

Finally, we are praying for your success day and night. You will continue to enjoy good health all the days of your life. We pray constantly for wisdom and strength from above to help you pilot the affairs of the state. Indeed, we are lucky to have the most humble, listening and peace loving Governor here on the Plateau. We wholeheartedly hope that our most sincere appeal will yield a good outcome.

Your Excellency, thank you as we keenly await your prompt action in this direction.

Signed:

Orphans and Widows of

Deceased Civil Servants
