Most political minds in the country have been diverted to recent underground movements to succeed the present Vice President of the country, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), should the plot to elongate President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure actually fail.
This political development is coming because, there seems to be a miasma emanating from another secret room in the villa (za oza room).
Governor Nasiru El-Rufa’i of Kaduna State (The self-assured), Eng. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (the foreseer) and Governor Simon Bako Lalong (The Peace-Maker) are the key fighters, who seem to be political jostling for the Vice President’s seat allegedly, come 2023 in APC, based on politically manipulated reports making the rounds in the country today.
The proposed running mate for Nasiru El-rufa’i from source is the present Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN). And the proposed companion of Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong would be no other person, than Sen. Bola Ahmad Tinubu.
Remember the Muslim/Christian thing that brought Osinbajo instead of Tinubu, right?
One may wonder why the name of Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is now included. Facts are that He is the President and Commander-in-Chief of Kwankwasiyya Movement; the gigantic self-acclaimed opponent of APC in the north.
The reason is that, Kwankwaso have been breeding himself for the presidential throne since he was the governor of Kano State. And recently, he was being lobbied to join the ruling party in order to necessitate the defeat of PDP in the north come 2023. And when he was asked in a Freedom Radio interview concerning the issue, it was allegedly reported that he showed his willingness to accept the offer.
You would recall that during the 2019 general elections, Kwankwaso lost his local government and his polling unit to the APC, despite alleged funding by the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, who was the presidential candidate of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The suspicion is on, so is the check on him.
On the issue of El-rufa’i and Sen. Bola Tinibu – El-rufa’i has been on all fronts, trying to paint Tinubu black so that, his chances with Osinbajo would grow and become acceptable to the APC and Nigerians at large in the face of a Muslim/Muslim ticket. He knows that, if Tinubu would win the party’s ticket, the chances of becoming Vice President would be zero for him.
On his part, Governor Lalong is trying to keep the long-term troubled state, back to its old name – “home of peace and tourism”. His arsenal is under considering by top political minds, especially, the king-makers and elites in the north to see whether his efforts is worth the seat.
The fact is that, he has actually tried in maintaining peace on the Plateau since he came to power.
In all, with the APC focusing on 2023, and unemployment and poverty rate sky rocketing. Those working hard to occupy the Vice Presidents seat come 2023, should and most begin to adopt more of human and humane strategies.
