The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the nomination of Hon. Yakubu Bot Chocho, by its Plateau State chapter, as its Substantive Chairman, replacing Hon. Daminshi Sango, who resigned from office recently in line with Section 47(6) of the party’s Constitution.
The approval letter addressed personally to Hon. Yakubu Chocho, dated 21st February, 2020 and signed by the National Secretary of the party, Sen. Umaru Ibrahim Tsauri, charged the new Chairman, to “practice Constitutional Democracy, respect for the party’s due processes and run an all inclusive party administration.”
According to the letter of approval, Hon. Chocho is to complete the four (4) year tenure of Hon. Damishi Sango (from May 2016 to May 2020), while Amos Gombi is to continue as the chapter’s Deputy chairman.
National Secretary in part stated that, “On behalf of the National Working committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I wish to inform you that your nomination as the substantive state Chairman by the State Executive Committee of Plateau State has been approved following the resignation of the former elected Chairman, Hon, Damishi Sango.”
