Emir of Wase, HRH. Muhammadu Sambo Haruna has appreciated the entire Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Chapter for finding him worthy to bestow on him the Patronship of the Council.

The investiture ceremony, which took place on the 26th of January, 2019 at the Usuji Event Centre, Apollo Crescent Jos, Plateau State, saw amongst journalists, invited guests that came to celebrate with the Royal Highness.

The Emir in his speech said, “I appreciate the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Plateau State Council for finding me worthy to be their Patron. With this honour done me, I assure you that we will work together for the betterment of the profession and the growth of the society”.

You would recall that the occasion was also used by the NUJ, Plateau Chapter to raise funds for the construction of NUJ House.

The Emir in his speech did assure donors that the monies realized will be judiciously used.

“To our revered guests who honoured us with your presence and donated for the construction of NUJ House, we are indeed, grateful and remain indebted to you. We assure you that the monies donated would be judiciously used for the purpose it is meant”. He said.

Guest Speaker at the event, Dr. Garba Abari, DG. National Orientation Agency (NOA), said that in Traditional Institutions, Traditional Rulers have a key role to play in the society because of their direct link with the lower cadre.

He added that, they are the custodians of our culture and tradition. “If we have a wrong culture, we will end up with a wrong leadership”

He urged the NUJ, Plateau State Council, as the watch dog of the society to be objective and credible in order to develop competency and capacity in their way of reportage.

The Chairman of the NUJ, Plateau State Chapter, Comrade Paul Jatau, appreciated the Emir and invited guests for their donations towards the construction of the NUJ House and advised Journalists to make the profession very paramount as the communicate very effectively in the society.
