PLATEAU: President Tinubu Approves 10 Billion Naira For The Smooth Take-off Of Federal University of Education, Pankshin—Rt. Hon. Yusuf Gagdi

President Ahmed Tinubu has approved the release of 10 Billion Naira for the take-off of Federal University of Education Pankshin in Plateau State.

The Member representing Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam Federal Constituency in the Green Chambers, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, made this known on 23^rd of September 2024, at the University Auditorium Hall when the Ministerial Assessment Team comprising of Federal Ministry of Education, National Universities Commission(NUC) and the National Commission for Colleges of Education(NCCE), paid a visit to the University to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of facilities in the new University for an effective transition of the school from the current status of a College of Education to that of a University.

Hon. Gagdi went further to disclose that President Tinubu has also given approval for the employment of 161 new staff members for the University to close the personnel gap in the Institution.

According to Gagdi, “When I visited the President, I told him that every new University has the challenge of getting money from TETFUND, and immediately President Ahmed Tinubu approved the sum of 10 Billion Naira for the take-off of the Federal University of Education Pankshin.

Gagdi added tha, “Another thing we have done, myself, the Acting V.C, the Acting Registrar, and the Chairman of the Board, is to address the exiting personnel strength and gap in the school. The Federal Government has listened to our complaint, and has also approved the employment of 161 staff to close the gap and I have handed over the approval to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University.

“The Ministerial Assessment Team arrived the University on Sunday 22^nd of September 2024 and the assessment visit will end on Wednesday 25^th of September, 2024.

“They are in the University to kick start and unveil the Federal University of Education Pankshin, and to do a thorough analysis of the assets and liabilities of the University and submit back to government”.
