PLATEAU: JOIN HANDS WITH PLASGEOC TO ACHIEVE ITS GOALS. MRS. OLIVIA DAZYAM (CHAIRPERSON) URGES, THANKED GOV. MUTFWANG, NGOs

To mark the International Day for Universal Access to Information, the Plateau State Gender and Equal Opportunity Commission (PLASGEOC) has urged individuals and communities in the state, to join hands with the Commission to enable it achieve its goals.

This call for individuals and communities to join hands with the Commission was made by, Mrs. Olivia Dazyam, the Chairperson of the Commission in a press brief to mark the International Day for Universal Access to Information, in the Commission’s office today.

You would recall that the International Day for Universal Access to Information is marked every 28^th day of September year.

Mrs. Olivia, who took time to thank Governor Caleb Mutfwang (Esq) for his unwavering support to provide a Plateau where the social protection network is second to none in the country, however demanded for more staff for the Commission and shelters for victims of sexual and gender based violence.

Adding that, Governor Mutfwang, “will not tolerate the maltreatment of all persons, particularly, children, either in the name of culture or religion”.

To assist and join hands with the Commission to enable it achieve its goals, Olivia called on individuals and communities in the state to stop keeping secrets of offences of sexual and gender based violence.

She said, “We still use this opportunity to appeal for sustained collaboration from the generality of the people of Plateau State, to see something, say something and do something”.

 

THE GROUP PICTURE AFTER THE BRIEFING

While thanking some Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the state for their collaborative efforts, the Chairperson said, “We also must appreciate the collaboration and partnership we enjoy from the Nigerian Police, NSCDC, the Office of the Attorney General, Vigilante groups, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and the National Union of Road Transport Workers”.
