PLATEAU: First Female Chairman of NUJ Plateau, Journalist Ayuku Pwaspo, Marks One Year Anniversary in Office, As the Council Celebrates Cultural Day

The first Female Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Plateau State Council, Journalist Mrs. Ayuku M. Pwaspo, marks 24th of September 2024, as her one Year anniversary in office.

The day also coincides with the cultural day event of the ongoing 2024 Press Week of the Council in which members came out in colours with their cultural identities at the Press Center in Jos.

It would be recalled that since the day she took the Oath of Office and Mantle of Leadership, Chairman Pwaspo has been focus and determined to make those who trusted, and stood by her throughout her campaign proud, with her zeal and commitment to unite the members, improve on their reportage and the Council.

The Chairman in her appreciation speech during the ongoing Press Week of the Council reminded members of this determination and achievements when she said, "I am proud to say that together, we have made remarkable progress, strengthened our union, built partnerships, contributed to the growth and development of Plateau through our reports and agenda setting roles, as well as, advocated for the rights of our members”.

 She also appreciates also, the support of the Government at all levels, Government officials, Political office holders/Individuals, the NUJ Patron, HRH. Muhammadu Sambo Haruna, Emir of Wase and the Plateau State Joint Traditional Council of Chiefs and Emirs to seeing to the achievement of these feats.

 "All Security organizations and non-conventional security organizations, Government MDA's, Non-Governmental Organization/Faith Based Organization, Community Development Associations/ Workers Union, the Business community, All Media Chiefs/ Organizations, Veteran Journalists, the Executives and Members of NUJ Plateau Council and Friends of NUJ and family. Thank you all”. She further stated.

 To further the interest, she urged Plateau citizens to continue to work with Journalists to make a difference in assignment delivery, collaboration and partnership effectiveness.

"We look forward to another year of working together to promote government policies and programs, to promote the ideals of good governance, peaceful coexistence and development of our societies.

"We will ensure that our members continue to advance media excellence and report on issues that foster a culture of unity and inclusivity”. She added.

Mrs. Ayuku appreciates the overwhelming support received during the union's events, particularly the Colloquium /Award and other activities marking the Press Week from her EXCO, past Chairmen and members.

She said, "We appreciate our veterans for the honor, your pioneering spirit, sacrifices, courage, and commitment to the profession. Your contributions paved the way for us, and we are grateful. To all past NUJ Executives, I thank you for laying the foundation and building the blocks that have brought us to where we are today. Your tireless efforts have not gone unnoticed. And to my current Executive members, I appreciate your cooperation, hard work, and teamwork.
