PLATEAU: BREAKING: GOV. MUTFWANG, TO BUILD JOS/BUKURU VALUE CHAIN PROCESSING COMMODITY-MARKET

Governor Caleb Mutfwang has promised to build Jos/Bukuru Markets to be a major means of government’s policy to further boost the economy activities of the state. He has also promised to set aside, the sum of One Billions Naira for young entrepreneurs in state to enhance the processing and marketing of commodities.

He said the completion of the exercise would harness the potential of Plateau State towards redesigning the transformation of the economy well-being by enhancing the agriculture commodity marketing roadmap.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang (Esq), stated this during a Two Days’ Workshop organized by the state administration tagged: “Statewide Sensitization Program on Commodity Marketing and Food Security, A Sustainable Roadmap For Plateau State”, held at Eliel Centre, Jos.

The Governor told the gathering that he is delighted in building the market especially, “in this new challenging period in our national history, where food insecurity is bedeviling Plateau State and the country at large.”

Governor Mutfwang, assured the people of a sustainable policy “in promoting industrial growth using the richly endowed mineral deposits to drive the state development and the rich potential in tourism, tomatoes, Irish, with branding to achieve global best practice with the aim of prosperity in agriculture.”

According to Mutfwang, Plateau rural communities are agrarian in nature and agriculture, if properly harness would bring high returns.

Adding that, “We are going to enjoy the dividends because it is the highest employer of labour and this can only be achievable if we develop our own market processing in the ongoing agricultural revolution.”

He explained further that the government is working hard to ensure that it stops banditry, herders/farmers clashes and stabilize the economy for the citizens.

The Governor said, “The youth entrepreneurship program may soon kick start because our farmers have been cheated for too long and they need to get value for their labour.”
