PROTEST: LISTING NASARAWA STATE AMONG STATES WHERE RUSSIAN FLAG WAS HOISTED IS ERRONEOUS AND BASELESS---HON. PETER AHEMBA (SSA)

By: Wilson Bako (Lafia),

Nasarawa State Government has described as false, misleading, and mischievous, the allegation that protesters in the state hoisted Russian flag during the last nationwide protest.

In a press statement made available to Newsmen in Lafia the state capital on Monday, signed by the Senior Special Assistance to the Governor on Public Affairs, Hon. Peter Ahemba, disclosed that the allegation was published by an Online Medium.

He stated that the Medium erroneously listed Nasarawa State among states that hoisted Russian flag.

Hon. Peter Ahemba, described the claim as “baseless and lucks merit”.

Mr. Ahemba explained with pride that the said nationwide protest recorded low turnout in Nasarawa state, while attributing to the fact that most of the demands advanced by the protesters have since been substantially met by the Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule’s led-administration as a result of the support of the Federal Government through various palliative schemes.

Adding that, “this motivated majority of the citizens to shun the Politically Motivated Protest”.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Affairs stated that the few persons that managed to attend the protest were mostly underage children and they were closely monitored by security agents to ensure law and order.

He further pointed out that, “at no point did the protesters hoist Russian flag in the course of the skeletal protest in some parts of the State”.

He called on members of the public to disregard the false reports, while assuring the citizens that state under the leadership of Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, “remains committed to the unity and sovereignty of Nigeria”.

"Be rest assured that the State Government will continue to implement policies and programs that have direct bearing on the lives of the people even as we encourage citizens to remain law-abiding and supportive of the Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) and Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, in the interest of development". He affirmed.
