JUST IN: UNPAID PROFESSIONAL LEGAL FEE: WHY E. D. PWAJOK (SAN) DRAGGED HON. VINCENT VENMAN TO COURT

By: Amb. Valentine Adese (JP),

It is no longer news that Edward Pwajok (SAN) has dragged a member of the House of Representatives representing Langtang-North and Langtang South, Hon. Prince Vincent Venman Bulus, to the High Court in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, over his alleged defiance and refusal to pay his Professional Legal Fee.

REALITY gathered that, before the Suit No: CV/3199/24, which came by way of Writ of Summons was filed, E. G. Pwajok (SAN), had written to Hon. Vincent a letter, dated 31st May 2024, titled: PROFESSIONAL BILL OF CHARGES AND DEMAND NOTICE,  reminding him of the payment after his first letter dated 3rd May 2024.

According to Hon. Pwajok’s letter to Hon. Vincent, the Defendant had sent N1,000,000.00 (One Million Naira) to his personal account in October 2023, as part payment for the preliminary work and 800,000.00 (Eight Hundred Thousand Naira) in two trenches for appearance at the hearing of the Appeals.

After stating the preliminary cost, the administrative cost, and the preparation and argument of Respondents’ Briefs cost, E. G. Pwajok (SAN), in summary stated below that:

“The total amount outstanding as my Professional bill of charges is therefore, N36, 800,000.00 (Thirty-Six Million, Eight Hundred Thousand) only. I hereby give you one month’s notice to pay the outstanding balance or I shall proceed to Court to seek redress”.

However, in his reply dated 5th June 2024 on his official Letter Headed-paper to the Notice, Hon. Vincent writes:

“I am in receipt of your above letter. I never paid you and fee, the monies I gave you is because of your insistence that APC my party that briefed you was not facilitating what you wanted to do, that is why I gave you money to do the needful NOT fees. I did not brief you to handle any petition for me nor appeal.

Kindly, keep the respect we have for one another.

Thank you”.
