Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule has congratulated the Muslim community in the state for joining their counterparts all over the world in celebrating the feast of Eid-el-Kabir.
The State’s Chief Executive said the celebration is a test of faith in commemoration of the sublime submission by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him) to the call for sacrifice.
In a Sallah message to the people of the state in Lafia on Saturday, the Governor stated that the celebration also symbolizes a call to all Muslims to live a life of selflessness, brotherhood, sacrifice, and adherence to Allah’s commands.
He reminded the Muslim Ummah that an occasion such as this, “calls on the Ummah to reflect on their relationships with God and fellow human beings, as a yardstick for righteous living, love, and peaceful coexistence in the society”.
He called on the Muslims to continue to preach peace and show love, understanding, tolerance, and good neighbourliness amongst themselves and humanity at large, which he said is in line with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The Governor used the occasion to appeal to the Muslim community to pray for their brothers and sisters who are currently performing the Holy Pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, while expressing the hope that, “over there, they too are offering similar prayers for the general wellbeing of the State and, indeed, the nation’s economy at large”.
He said he hopes and prays that “Almighty Allah will reward their acts of worship and grant them journey mercies as they return home at the end of the pilgrimage”.
The State’s Chief Executive called on the people of the State to continue to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), and all other leaders to help sustain peace, harmony, socio-cultural and economic prosperity which the State and Nigeria are known for.
He appealed to Nigerians to eschew any form of unlawful behavior that is capable of ruining the relative peace that is being enjoyed in the State.
Engineer Sule also condemned in strong terms the spate of kidnapping being perpetuated by hoodlums in some parts of the State. He warned that the Government would not spare the culprits of these heinous acts, as the security agencies would continue to hunt them in their locations.
He assured that his administration would not rest on its oars to ensure a peaceful and secured Nasarawa State.
