“EMIR OF PENGANA” FAKE! PLATEAU STATE GOVT REACTS, VOWS TO DEAL WITH MISCHIEF MAKERS

Plateau State Government has warned and has urged the general public not to recognized any title as the “Emir of Pengana”, as nothing like that exists in the state.

According to the State Government, the title is fake.

In a press statement signed by, Hon. Sylvanus Tapgun, the State’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, dated 30^th December, 2021, in respect to an alleged event to install one Alh. Maiwada Ya’u Mohammed (CEO Jengre Petroleum Company Ltd.), as Danmalikin Pengana by a non-existent “Emir of Pengana”, the Plateau State Government has Urged the public to ignore the said event, as there is no such thing as, “Emirate of Pengana” in Plateau State.

Adding that, “For the avoidance of doubt, the paramount ruler of Pengana Chiefdom in Bassa LGA recognized by Government, is the “Ogomo Pengana” HRH. Esau Mamman Shayang (JP) who was installed in 2016”.

The State Government has also directed the Chairman of Bassa Local Government and the Chairman of the Traditional Council in the Area to immediately halt the purported installation.

The release further stated that, “The Government frowns at the purported installation scheduled for 2nd January 2022, as contained in invitation cards and posters carrying misleading information about, a non-existing “Pengana Emirate”, which it said is a clear display of arrogance and an attempt to inflame passions and cause a breakdown of law and order.

“The Government also views the planned installation of the said beneficiary by this non-existing Emirate as an attempt to disrupt the peace of Bassa Local Government Area and the entire State by using Chieftaincy matters, which people hold dear to their hearts.

“Government therefore warns those involved in this planned installation by this non-existing entity to desist forthwith, as law enforcement agencies have been put on red alert and directed to immediately arrest anyone who contravenes the directive.

“It further mandates traditional rulers and Local Government Chairmen across the State to be proactive and nip in the bud any similar attempt by unscrupulous groups and individuals to disrupt public peace and security through mischief that uses the traditional Institution which is considered a sacred one”.

Government further warns that, “it will not hesitate to come down hard on any traditional ruler who is found to be negligent or supporting such clandestine activities openly or secretly”.

PHOTONEWS: GOV. LALONG AT THE WEDDING OF THE SON TO PLATEAU COMMISSIONER FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND CHIEFTAINCY AFFAIRS

Governor Simon Bako Lalong was among guests from all works of life that attended the wedding of the son of Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sylvanus Tapgun, at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja.

The wedding solemnization for Miskoon Maurice Tapgun and Folasade Adeyemo was performed by ECWA President, Rev. Dr. Stephen Panya Baba, assisted by clergymen from various denominations.

Rev. Panya Baba, charged the couple to live as a family whose passion is to serve and please God and one another. That way, they can easily embrace the love of God and offer selfless service to one another without conditions.

In a press statement concerning the event, signed by, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to Governor Lalong, Governor Lalong, while congratulating the couple advised them to be committed to their marriage and work together to build a home that is founded on love, tolerance and sacrifice.

He urged them to imbibe the good virtues of their parents and ensure that, “they do not bring disrepute to the families who have invested so much to train them and inculcate godly character in them”.

In a sermon, the clergyman read from 1^st Thessalonians 4:9-10, he told the couple to love each other sacrificially and consider that, Christ demonstrated such love to mankind by dying on the cross to usher in salvation.

He said submission and love require forgiveness, oneness, kindness, compassion, giving and sacrifice from both husband and wife as God originated marriage to enable man have dominion over the earth. Such he said begins in the home where marriage is the bedrock of healthy families.

NORTHERN GOVERNORS CONGRATULATE KEBBI/NASARAWA GOVERNORS ON BIRTHDAYS

Northern Governors’ Forum has felicitated with two of its colleagues. Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, who clocked 62 and Governor Atiku Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State, who clocked 60 years on December 26th.

Chairman of the Forum, who doubles as the Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, in statement said, the Governors have played significant role in impacting the lives of their people and Nigerians at large, through their various positions of responsibility including their current offices.

He said they have remained key players in the political space in Nigeria and making significant efforts to ensure that good governance, peace and economic development is attained.

He has not only demonstrated such in his tenure as Governor, but made enormous contributions to the efforts of the Northern Governors Forum to develop an economic blueprint for the region particularly in the era of COVID-19 and other challenges. He has also shown courage in leadership as Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum”.

For Governor Abdullahi Sule, Lalong described him as, a technocrat with wide knowledge and experience which he has brought on board since coming into office as Governor of Nasarawa State.

The Chairman of the Independent Publishers’ Association (IPA) Mr. Shabul Mazadu has today, Friday, the 24^th of December, 2021, added smiles on the faces of his members, as he sourced and distributed Christmas gifts and consumable to members.

The distribution of the items under his supervision was carried out at his Newspaper’s office (THE BEACON), which also doubles, as IPA’s temporary Secretariat, after an emergency meeting.

SOME ITEMS DISTRIBUTED BY MR. SHABUL TO IPA MEMBERS

Items distributed include, Dano Milk, Rice, Cadbury Hot Chocolate Drink, Knorr Seasoning Cubes among others.

His exemplary leadership was highly demonstrated when he saw to it that, other members of IPA should be given priority in the distribution exercise before him, irrespective of the outcome.

SELF-TRACKING OF PROJECT: PLATEAU STATE GOVT RESOLVES TO ADOPT STATE MONITORING AND EVALUATION POLICY AND LAW

At the end of the retreat for Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Advisers and Heads of Department/agencies, it has been resolved that, the Plateau State Government should adopt the State Monitoring and Evaluation Policy and Law to enhance self-track of projects of projects and programmes, resulting in quarterly review sessions going forward.

This is contained in the communiqué that was signed and issued by Prof. Danladi Abok Atu, the Secretary to the Government of the State, dated 22^nd December 2021, and circulated to Media houses in Jos.

You would recall that, As a way of establishing the level of implementation of the Plateau State Development Strategy, by assessing and evaluating the performance of Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, the Plateau State Government in collaboration with GIZ organized a two-day Policy Review Retreat for State Executive Council Members, Permanent Secretaries, Chief Executives/Chairmen of Boards and Parastatals and Special Advisers to the Executive Governor of Plateau State on Tuesday 21st to Wednesday 22^nd December 2021, at the Banquet Hall, New Government House, Rayfield.

According to the statement from the office of the SSG, the event was declared open by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Simon Bako Lalong, ably represented by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Sonni G. Tyoden, who appreciated the level of implementation of the resolutions contained in last year’s communiqué, where 12 resolutions out of 13 were already implemented.

According the the Government, “This success was attributed to the determination and synergy between Ministries, Departments, and Agencies”.

Other resolutions reached in the retreat include:

1. The Rescue Administration restated its determination to complete outstanding all critical projects currently being implemented, thus, all projects and programmes will be carefully prioritized to ensure that the identified critical ones are completed within the tenure of this administration.
2. All MDAs must put all hands on deck to ensure that the commitment to create jobs that will take 20,000 youths out of the unemployment market between now and 2022.
3. All MDAs to explore other alternative sources of funds for implementing critical projects and programmes. Towards this end, the option of Public Private Partnership and donor funding shall be embraced much more strategically going forward.
4. The four policy sub-councils to further meet before 31st December 2021, as syndicates to consider all inputs, recommendations and suggestions made at the retreat in order to review all the projects and programmes of MDAs under their respective purviews, with the aim of restructuring, rejigging and rescoping them within the time frame left for this administration, and to also come up with practical implementation strategies for delivering same.

COVID-19: PLATEAU STATE GOVT PREPARES FOR MASS VACCINATION, INAUGURATES TASK FORCE, LALONG CONGRATULATES DG ITF @61, OTHERS

As part of the campaign to curb the spread of COVID-19 and change the negative narrative of COVID-19 vaccine in Plateau and the country at large, the Plateau State Government, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong has inaugurated a Task Force on Integrated Vaccination as well as flagged off a Mass Vaccination, to ensure a mass, consistent and coordinated Vaccination in the State against both COVID-19 and other diseases.

Governor Lalong while inaugurating the Task Force, at the Banquet Hall of the new Government House Rayfield Jos, appealed to the citizens of the State to embrace the vaccination against COVID-19 and other diseases, in order to ensure that the healthcare of the State is fortified against preventable diseases.

The Governor revealed that the Task Force consists of health professionals and eminent stakeholders from across the State with the mandate to create the desired attention required for prompt sensitization and consolidation of achieved gains in the area of vaccination.

” I am mandating all Local Government Chairmen to oversee their respective LGA Task Forces for successful immunization in order to deliver effective rural health care services to the people”, Lalong said while enforcing the mandate.

“You will recall that since our index case was reported and confirmed on 17th April, 2020, Plateau State has recorded 10,002 positive cases with 73 deaths in all 17 LGAs as at 12th December 2021. Our administration responded promptly and with all vigour which ensured that 9,962 cumulative confirmed cases were managed and discharged, leaving only 35 infected persons still receiving and responding to treatment”, He said.

Adding that, ”Plateau State Government vaccine mandate is that all citizens of 18 years and above will henceforth show evidence of vaccination or present a negative Covid-19 PCR test result done within 72 hours to gain access to any public office. This will also go hand in hand with observing all protocols in schools, markets, banks, weddings, churches, mosques amongst others”.

According to the Governor, the measure are not punitive nor intended to force people to take the vaccines against their wishes but are simply meant to ensure public safety and guarantee the health of the people against this ravaging pandemic.

Responding on behalf of the Task Force, Deputy Governor Prof. Sonni Tyoden assured that the members will put in their best to ensure that the State achieve its objectives.

The Commissioner for Health Dr. Nimkong Lar also emphasized that the  vaccines are safe and not harmfu,l contrary to conspiracy theories, reiterating that no one will be forced to take the vaccin, adding that  the Ministry is  also concerned about other diseases aside COVID-19 which need more sensitization for vaccination.

Also present at the event were, the Long Gamai of Shendam Miskoom Martins Shaldas, Chairman JNI, Chairman CAN, Unicef representative in Plateau State Dr. Wazingi Williams, Health officials and other stakeholders.

In another development, the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs and an Aspirant for the office of the All Progressive Congress (APC) National Chairman, Senator George Akume has sought the support of Governor Lalong, during a visit at the State Government House, Rayfield, Jos.

The Contact and Mobilization Team for the aspirant of the APC National Chairman, through the Leader of the delegation, Senator Jack Tilley Gyado said the aim of the visit was to formally intimate him on the desire of Senator Akume to occupy the number one seat of the APC and also let him know that Plateau State has a key to his success.

Gyado in his statement said, ”Senator Akume is eminently qualified for the APC Chairmanship and will not only consolidate its hold in the North Central, but across the entire country, giving his vast experience in politics and wide connections and also, the Party is in need of a strong leader like Senator Akume to move into the 2023 elections and ensure victory for the party in all elections ”.

Adding that, ”Plateau State remains a big brother to Benue and Governor Lalong in particular has shown tremendous goodwill and support to the people of Benue State which saw the party winning elections in the State in 2014, until the current Governor defected”.

Lalong in his response, assured the team of his support and advised them to work hard not only for the victory of Senator Akume, but also for retrieving the stolen mandate of the APC from the opposition party in the 2023 elections also assuring them  the party will remain strong in the State.

The Governor of Plateau State Simon Bako Long haD also  commended the Director General of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Sir Joseph Ari for his passion towards the development of Plateau State, as he Celebrates his 61st birthday.

Governor Lalong in a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs Dr. Makut Simon Macham  described Sir Ari as a consummate professional who has deployed his vast knowledge and experience in various fields over the years to the service of the State and nation at large.

Adding that, ”The success recorded of your Rescue Administration, through offering sound counsel and collaborating with the Government to train and empower thousands of youths in various vocational skills have reduced unemployment and idleness in the country”.

“From your early training as a media professional, you have not only distinguished yourself as an administrator, but also developed your capacity to become a human resource developer and trainer with very impressive results to show. You have used the opportunity of your current appointment as DG to take the ITF to greater heights in the duty of giving young Nigerians skills and entrepreneurship capacity”, Lalong stated.

While wishing the DG a blissful birthday, the Governor urged him to sustain his acts of charity and devotion to God.

FACTS: WHY WRAPA TRAINS AND HAVE ENGAGEMENT MEETINGS IN PLATEAU STATE

Women’s Rights Advancement And Protection Alternative (WRAPA), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has in Plateau State and Nigeria at large, continued to promote Legal and Social empowerment programmies on Women’s Rights.

It is of note that, in Nigeria, WRAPA implemented the Haki Mkonomi Project in 2015, which immensely contributed to the passage of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Act, which was signed into Law by President Goodluck Jonathan on the 25^th of May, 2015.

The efforts of WRAPA, its Coordinators and Facilitators in Plateau State, also contributed to the passage of VAPP and the Gender and Equal Opportunity (GEO) Bills into Law in Plateau State.

The NGO, having achieved this feat was of the strong view that, the GEO Bill and the VAPP Act 2015 are critical to addressing issues of gender-based violence in Plateau State and Nigeria at large hence it has embarked on the recent exercise of engagement meeting with State Governor, Key State Actors, Representatives of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the State Ministry of Justice, Legislators and the Plateau State Ministries of Women Affairs and the Media.

Its recent training in Plateau State, which had a huge attendance, according to Mrs. Jummai Madaki, was to enable the environment that would gain approval and adoption of the GEO Law and VAPP Act.

Mrs. Jummai explained that, “The purpose of the Activity and Engagements in the State, is to gain the approval and adoption of the VAPP Act and the Gender and Equal Opportunity Law in Plateau State, which seeks to eliminate Gender-based Violence in Women and Girls (VAWG) and promote equal opportunities for beneficiaries of the project intervention (Women and Girls).

The main objective of WRAPA’s recent training in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, which is aimed at sustaining and advancing high level engagements for the effective implementation of the GEO and the VAPP Act, has been commended by leading CSOs, and political pundits in Plateau state.

You would recall that, REALITY had reported that, The Plateau State Government may soon become the first to pass the Gender and Equal Opportunities Commission, arising from the GEO Bill passed into Law recently.

The State Government through its Commissioner for  Special Duties and Inter-Governmental, and Non-Governmental Organizations, Hon Werr Irmiya, made this disclosure, at a One-Day workshop on ”Engagement Meetings with Key State Actors for the Effective Implementation of the GEO Law and the VAPP Act, under the project of Legal  and Social empowerment Program on Women’s Rights in Kaduna and Plateau States.” organized by WRAPA and sponsored by African Women Development Fund (AWDF) , held on the 17^th of December, 2021, at City Lodge Hotel, Jos, Plateau State.

In his remarks during the training, the Commissioner assured the Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA) that, “the establishment of a Gender Commission, is in no distant time”.

COMMISSIONER

”The Government of Plateau State is committed to establishing a Gender Commission in no distant time and will ensure that, 90% appointment of this Commission will be given to women because, women are the key for the survival of any nation”, The Commissioner stated.

He also added that, ”The Government will also ensure the participation of women not just in governance, but also in every strata of life.

Mrs. Oluwayemisi Nathaniel, the Senior Executive Officer, Program and Project of WRAPA  in her presentation at  the workshop, had then described the Plateau State Government, as a Government that is taking the bull by the horn when it comes to the issue(s) surrounding Gender Equality, by passing the GEO Bill into Law.

”We want to thank the Plateau State Government for being the first in taking the GEO Laws and ensuring that it does not remain stagnant”, She stated.

 

BOKKOS LG ELECTION: HON. PETER BEST vs HON. JOSEPH GULUWA, IS NOT A PRE-ELECTION MATTER, COURT OF APPEAL RULES, SETS 27TH JAN. 2022, FOR HEARING

Hon. Peter Best Mallo has won the first leg of the legal battle against Hon. Joseph Guluwa, at the Court of Appeal, Jos Division, as the Court rules that his suit No: PLD/J/327CV/2021, challenging the candidature of Hon. Joseph Guluwa in the Plateau State Local Government election for Bokkos Local Government Council was not a Pre-election matter.

You would recall that, REALITY had reported that, Plateau State High Court (PSHC) presided over by, Hon. Justice Geoffrey Kamyal, had declined entertaining suit N0: PLD/J/327CV/2021, filed by Hon. Peter Mallo, challenging the candidature of, Hon. Joseph Guluwa, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the last Local Government (LG) elections conducted by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), on 09/10/2021, because, the suit was already statute barred.

The Court, which upheld the Preliminary Objection (PO) filed by, Hon. Joseph Guluwa’s Counsel, Garba Pwul (SAN), said the cause of action was on the 23rd of June, 2021, when the primaries for the election was held in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State and not on the 10th of August, as perceived by the Plaintiff in his Affidavit.

However, at the hearing of, Hon. Peter Best’s Appeal, No: CA/J/245/2021, challenging the ruling of the Plateau State High Court, the panel chaired by Hon. Justice M. N. Oniyangi (JCA) with Hon. Justice B. M. Ugo (JCA), and Hon. Justice O. O. Goodluck (JCA) as members, agreed with the submission of M. B. Abullahi (Esq) for the Appellant/Applicant, Hon. Peter Best that, the suit was not a Pre-election matter.

B. Abullahi (Esq) had argued that, “The issue for determination at the Lower Court were, whether S. 87(2) of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended) Article 7(viii) and 20 (iii) 4 (a) and 5 of the All Progressives Congress’ Constitution (as amended) were duly followed in the nomination of a candidate in Primary Election.

“The second question was, whether S. 36(1) of the 1999 Constitution was adhered to in resolving the complaint of the Appellant, who was Plaintiff at the Lower Court.

“We therefore raised the issue, whether S. 87(a) of the Electoral Act 2010 was applicable to the Appellant’s case at the Lower Court.

“Lastly, the PLASIEC (2^nd Respondent) at Paragraph 9, lays down guide lines for primaries. Having set out these guidelines, which border on non-adherence to the Electoral Act and the Constitution, this court has jurisdiction to entertain the case Refers specifically to S. 14 (a) of S. 285 of the Constitution 1999 (as amended) to say that Appellant’s complaint before the Lower Court falls within Pre-Election matter.

However, in opposing the submissions of M. B. Abdullahi (Esq), Nantok Dashuwar (Esq) with Pandak Bawa (Esq) for the 2^nd and 3^rd Respondents/Cross Appellants (PLASIEC, Hon. Guluwa) said, “Having more closely and critically examined the provision of S. 285(14) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), we concede that the suit of the Appellant having complained of any irregularity from Pre-election to be conducted by INEC or any other Act of the National Assembly, this suit is not a pre-election matter as the relevant provision of the Constitution for the determination of a pre-election by S. 285 (14)(a) and (c) Constitution for election conducted by INEC or regulated by the Electoral Act or any other Act of the National Assembly.

“The election in this suit is regulated by Law of the Plateau State House of Assembly and an election to be conducted by the 2^nd Respondent.

“Therefore, we urge that the appeal be deemed a regular Appeal so that, parties can canvases other issues in the Appeal, as well as, Cross-Appeal or better still, strike out the Appeal as both the appeal and the suit at the Lower Court are academic for the following reasons:

“The election in issue held n 09/10/2021. It does not serve any purpose even if the suit succeeds and the 1^st Respondent is ordered to conduct another primary, the relief sought will not affect the main election.

“The relief of the suit is for APC to conduct fresh primaries. There is no relief affecting the general election which has been conducted”.

Taking a second bite on the argument, M. B. Abdullahi (Esq) told the Court that, “Parties must be consistent in presenting their case. At the Lower Court, 2^nd and 3^rd Respondents argued that S. 285(14) of the Constitution applied and it was on that basis our suit was struck out.

“Having benefited they cannot argue otherwise in this Court.”

In its ruling, the Court of Appeal stated that, “We have carefully read through the provisions of Section 285 focusing more particularly on subsection 14(a) of the section relied on by the Appellant for his argument that this appeal is a pre-election matter.

“It is imported that the parent S. 285 (1) of the Constitution (as amended) deals exclusively with elections conducted by the Federal Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), namely: National Assembly and Governorship election all of which gives the pointer that the provision are all related to INEC conducted elections.

“Coming now to S. 285(14)(a) of the 1999 constitution as amended relied on by the Appellant, it is stated thus:

“S. 285(14)(a): “For the purpose of this section “pre-election” means any suit by an Aspirant who complains that any of the provisions of the Electoral Act or any Act of the National Assembly regulating the conduct of primaries of political parties and the provisions of the guideline of s political party for conduct of party primaries has not been complied with  by a political party in respect of selection or nomination of candidates for and election.”

“In interpreting this provision we must not forget that subsection 14 of 285 opens with the words “For the purpose of this section.” It does not simply say that a pre-election matter means.”

“That means subsection (14) is tied to the parent section 285 of the Constitution which deals exclusively with INEC conducted elections as earlier explained. That definitely excludes a Local Government election conducted primarily by Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission and under a Plateau State Law.

“Even going further and concentrating on subsection 14(a) of S.285 of the constitution as amended it is only an Aspirant who complains that any of the provision of the Electoral Act of the National Assembly regulating the conduct of primaries of political parties comes within the meaning of “pre-election matter.”

“A Local Government election in plateau state, I still emphasize is not one regulated by Electoral Act 2010 or any National Assembly Act only one conducted by INEC.

“In the circumstance, it is our decision that this Appeal though a pre-election matter, is not a pre-election matter within the meaning of S. 285(14) of the 1999 constitution and so, not caught by it.

“S. 285(12) provides that such appeal shall be disposed off within 60 days from the date of filing of the appeal in the light of the above, parties are advised to file their briefs of arguments in compliance with Court of Appeal Rules.

“Leave be and is hereby granted to Cross-Appellant to reply on the Record transmitted on 17/11/2021 and the 09/12/2021 supplementary Record of Appeal already compiled and transmitted by Appellant to this Court.

“The said two Records are hereby deemed as the Records of Appeal in this Appeal.

“The Appeal is adjourned to the 227^th day of January, 2022 for hearing.”

 

GOV. LALONG’S ADMINISTRATION, LAST WEEK FROM THE EYES OF THE LANCE

Through the last Eight (8) days and running through the weekend, a lot of changes, actions and achievements have been attained by the ruling All Progressives Congress administration led by Governor Simon Bako Lalong owing to some of his directives.

First to showcase the level of peace maintained and achieved after several attacks and reprisals in the state and the long curfew, the Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has directed the total lifting of the existing curfew in the commercial cities in the state, such as, Jos North, Jos South, and Bassa Local Government Areas with effect from 17th December 2021, until further notice.

The Governor from Plateau State press statement signed by his Director of press, Dr. Makut Macham, the Governor gave this directive, after a State Security Council Meeting, held at the State Government House Rayfield Jos, where the Council reviewed the security situation in State.

You would recall that, the curfew, was earlier imposed on 8^th September, 2021, from 10pm to 6am, as part of efforts to curb the insecurity witnessed in some parts of the State, which was by report, strictly adhered to by citizens.

Governor Lalong also directed security operatives according to the press statement, to deploy its men in strategic areas, stating that, “In place of the curfew, the relevant security agencies should mount well coordinated and round the clock checks in strategic areas of the State to ensure the safety of lives and properties of the people during the yuletide season”.

Also, while commending the citizens for their patience, understanding and cooperation during the period of the curfew, Lalong urged them to be security conscious and highly vigilant against, any suspected criminal activity in their domains, which should be reported quickly to security agencies to enable them take swift action.

In another development and also unreported, the Management of Shoprite has visited Governor Lalong, in the State Government House Rayfield Jos, to discuss plans for the establishment of a Franchise in Jos in 2022.

The visit, which was led by the Chairman of Retail Supermarket Nigeria Group, Mr. Tayo Amusan, revealed that, they were in Plateau State, as part of their rolled out plans in 2022, which is to see them developing the Jos City Mall that would house Shoprite and other businesses.

“The group is attracted by the huge potentials of Plateau State in terms of agricultural products, serene environment, huge market and opportunities for growth.” The Director quoted.

From the speech made available to REALITY, Mr. Amusan also added that, “Plateau State is a natural attraction for tourists and visitors who need shopping and recreational facilities that our organization is capable of providing in the rolled out plan and apart from Shoprite, there will be other facilities of the Jara brand to be rolled out.

Governor Lalong in response said, he was delighted with the visit of the group, which was long overdue because, Plateau State is a business destination and a home for all Nigerians and foreigners.

“This administration has done a lot to restore peace and security, which has attracted more investors into the State and removed fear of the past”. Governor Lalong had said.

Lalong further informed the group that, there is more access for export and import into the State with the approval for the upgrading of the Yakubu Gowon Airport Heipang into an international cargo airport.

“Plateau State has also acquired the Inland Container Depot in Heipang which will also serve as the hub for the Nigerian Shippers Council operations” Governor Lalong disclosed.

In celebrating the 79^th birthday of President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Lalong, who doubles as the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, on behalf of the Forum in a statement, described the President, as a man of integrity and leader with patriotic zeal to develop the nation and secure the future for the younger generation.

“The President has remained a father to all by embracing all parts of the nation and ensuring that projects are distributed to all zones irrespective of political and other considerations, a situation which speaks volumes of his penchant for justice and fairness”, Lalong stated.

He also commended the President for his support and effort in tackling insecurity and poverty stating that, “The Northern Governors Forum has enjoyed the support of Mr. President in dealing with challenges such as insecurity, poverty, illiteracy and disease which are being substantially contained due to the synergy between the States and the Federal Government”.

Still on birthday celebrations, the Northern Governors Forum through Governor Lalong also congratulated the Governor of Niger State, Governor Sani  Bello, as he clocked 54.

The Chairman of the Forum while wishing him many more years of God’s wisdom and good health, admonished him to continue to put the interest of the people above every consideration as he has done over the years and also sustain his passion for the unity, peace, cohesion and stability of not only the Northern Region, but Nigeria as a whole.

Governor Lalong also assured him that the Northern Governors Forum will continue to support him as he serves the people of Niger State.

 

PLATEAU: EFCC vs SEN. JANG, OTHER MAJOR ISSUES EXPECTED TO ROLLOVER, FROM 2021 TO 2022

Plateau State, its residents and indigenous people, may have started preparing for the celebration of the 2021 Christmas and preparing to welcome the New Year, 2022, but there are many issues that may rollover with the coming year, as they remained unresolved in 2021.

The cases before the Plateau State High Court and the Court of Appeal Jos Division, arising from various political issues such as, intraparty and interparty despites across most political parties may be some of the issues that are expected to roll over from 2021 to 2022.

First, the case between the Federal Government against Sen. Jonah David Jang, been prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before the Plateau State High Court, is expected to roll over to 2022 since, there was no end in sight to the case in 2021. For the whole of 2021, the case has remained at the prosecution stage and the calling of witnesses by the EFCC.

2022 would therefore see E. G. Pwajok (SAN) Counsel to Sen. Jang, still battling the legal issues again, against Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), Counsel to the EFCC.

Secondly, the alleged impeachment of the Plateau State House of Assembly would also be a rollover to 2021, as the parties failed to settle the issues politically.

With members of the House bringing the matter before the Plateau State High Court, there strong reasons that 2021 could not accommodate it hence, 2022 would be its rollover year for settlement as the matter is already fixed for 31^st January, 2022. REALITY gathered.

On the issue of the Plateau State House of Assembly leadership tussle, the appearance of Pwajok (SAN) in the matter at the State High Court is much expected as he turns out to the Counsel to the Claimants.

The Local Government Elections in Plateau State conducted by the State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) is yet from over in 2021, as the matter before the Court of Appeal Jos Division is fixed for definite hearing next year, 2022.

The implementation of the Judgment concerning Langtang North Local Government Council on the issue of the said election may also cross over, as the implementers (Governor and Security) and the judgment creditor are yet to reach a compromise.

Ongoing Projects  at the Plateau State High Court been constructed by the State Government under the leadership of Governor Simon Bako Lalong, would have to see their completion in 2022, as there are only 11 days left in 2021.

The rollovers of these projects among others in the state would receive their ceremonial unveiling in 2022.

The vacant seat at the National Assembly which is yet to be filled (Jos-North/Bassa Fed. Constituency of Plateau State), may see the light in 2022, as INEC made no significant move in 2021.

The Plateau State Government, may soon become the first to pass the Gender and Equal Opportunities Commission, arising from the GEO Bill passed into Law recently.

The State Government through its Commissioner for  Special Duties and Inter-Governmental, and Non-Governmental Organizations, Hon Werr Irmiya, made this disclosure, at a One-Day workshop on ”Engagement Meetings with Key State Actors for the Effective Implementation of the GEO Law and the VAPP Act, under the project of Legal  and Social empowerment Program on Women’s Rights in Kaduna and Plateau States.” organized by WRAPA and sponsored by African Women Development Fund (AWDF) , held today, the 17^th of December, 2021, at City Lodge Hotel, Jos, Plateau State.

MADAM JUMMAI TALKING AT THE WORKSHOP

In his remarks during the training, the Commissioner assured the Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA) that, the establishment of a Gender Commission, is in no distant time.

”The Government of Plateau State is committed to establishing a Gender Commission in no distant time and will ensure that, 90% appointment of this Commission will be given to women because, women are the key for the survival of any nation”, The Commissioner stated.

He also added that, ”The Government will also ensure the participation of women not just in governance, but also in every strata of life.

Mrs. Oluwayemisi Nathaniel, the Senior Executive  Officer, Program and Project of WRAPA  in her presentation at  the workshop, described the Plateau State Government, as a Government that is taking the bull by the horn when it comes to the issue(s) surrounding Gender Equality, by passing the GEO Bill into Law.

”We want to thank the Plateau State Government for being the first in taking the GEO Laws and ensuring that it does not remain stagnant”, She stated.

She also charged the participants in the workshop on the need to step down the issue(s) to the grass roots, in order to create awareness of the agenda, as well as, ensure the participation of local communities in the State.

” In spite of the Laws, women are being violated, we must not get tired of advocacy, the men will come around, and together we can win”! She added.

In an on the spot interview with journalist at the venue the Senior Executive disclosed that, one of the major challenges facing WRAPA is the issue of Funding, and stating that, ”The challenge of most human right advocate or Civil Society Organizations (CSO) is majorly funding. Should funding stop, we cannot jump into a vehicle or plane and say, we are coming to Plateau to come and implement or assist the community or the State CSOs to have a voice in the implementation of every Law.

Other participants at the workshop include: Mrs. Jummai, Mr. Valentine Adese (CEO Reality Newsline), Kanenq Rwang-Pam (ED: KRP FEMA), Representatives from CSOs, Media, Ministry of Justice, Legislators and the State Ministry of Women Affairs.

SECURITY CHALLENGES: NNPP CALLS ON THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO BEEF UP SECURITY

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) to beef up against the security challenges in the Country, especially now that the year is rounding off in order to reduces the insecurity before it escalate to different parts of Nigeria.

In a Press release signed on the 16th December, 2021, by the Deputy National  Publicity Secretary (NNPP), Rev. Emmanuel Olorunmagba, He mentioned that, the party would provide functional toll free lines to assist in that direction.

GOVERNOR LALONG INSTALLS, RA'AN JAHR, JOINS WOMEN AFFAIRS MINISTER TO COMMISSION EROSION CONTROL PROJECT

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has urged all communities and Chiefdoms in the State to always adopt dialogue, negotiations and reconciliation in handling all Chieftancy matters in order to consolidate on the peace and security of the State.

According to a Plateau State press statement signed by, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, his Director of Press and Public Affairs, dated 16^th December 2021, Governor Lalong said this in Dengi, during the coronation of His Royal Highness, Alh. Mahmud Maikano, the Ra’an Jahr, a Second class traditional ruler of the Jahr Chiefdom in Kanam Local Government Council.

Lalong said, the traditional institution is very important to the peace and development of the State and should therefore set the example for peaceful coexistence through dialogue in resolving all disputes involving kingship.

He said “As I have always emphasized, the Traditional Institution is vital to the survival of our cultural heritage as it forms the bedrock of our coexistence. As a people who share common and unique identity, the continuous maintenance of the norms, traditions and culture of the Chiefdom must be safe-guarded in the greater interest of the people. You are aware that my administration since coming on board has paid greater attention on reviving the traditional institutions so that it can contribute meaningfully in the development of the State particularly at the grassroots level. This we believe will engender social cohesion and promote peaceful coexistence among our people”

Lalong said that, Government expects all communities to embrace dialogue as a means of resolving any differences relating to Chieftaincy maters within their communities in order to foster unity and development.

“Let me therefore use this opportunity to again remind those Chiefdoms who have not been able to resolve their differences to elect new traditional rulers, that they are denying their people many windows of opportunities. While Government has no intention of imposing any traditional ruler on the people, it is worthy to mention that the Government is disappointed that the efforts to fill the few vacant stools in the State are being frustrated due to lingering litigations among the Royal Class. Nevertheless, we will continue to do our best to ensure that where vacant stools exist, necessary steps are taken to resolve the issues.” He said.

He admonished the Royal father to be proactive and carry his people along irrespective of creed, religion, economic, political or any other affiliation and also avoid tendencies that will make him become selfish or sectional in his judgments.

Chairman of the Jahr Development Association,  Chief Amos Gizo said, the Chiefdom is happy with the installation of the Royal Father who is the symbol of unity and brotherliness of the various communities in the Chiefdom.

He said, “The installation of the Royal father by Governor Simon Bako Lalong marks another phase of the emancipation of the people since the days of Chief Solomon Lar. This he said the people highly appropriate and will reciprocate by ensuring they maintain peace and support Government activities at all times”.

Chairman of Kanam Local Government, Alh. Dayyabu Garga said, the coronation is another testimony to the fulfillment of the promise by Governor Lalong, to give the traditional Institution its rightful place in governance.

The Long Gamai Miskoom Martin Shaldas and the Emir of Kanam Alh Mohammadu Muazu Mohamamdu described the installation of the Ra’an Jahr as another moment of joy for the Plateau State Council of Traditional Rulers and the people as he is fulfilling his vow to ensure that people are emancipated and given a sense of belonging.

Earlier, the Governor had joined the Minister of Women Affairs Dame Pauline Tallen for the commissioning and handing over of Gishare Talbushi flood erosion control project in Dengi, with a 75 meter bridge linking many communities within the Local Government as well as Bauchi State.

The Governor praised President Muhammadu Buhari, for approving the project through the Ecological Fund Office and ensuring that funds were provided for its completion.

18 Covid-19 Vaccine Champions, Emerge in Kano

Center for Information and Development CITAD has appointed 18 Covid-19 Vaccine Champions from Three (3) Geopolitical Zones in Nigeria with the determination to get all Nigerian citizens vaccinated.

The appointments were made during a two day training on Covid-19 Vaccine Champions organized by, Center for Information and Development (CITAD), between 13^th and 14^th December, 2021, at Tahir Guest Palace in Kano, Kano State.

While giving the opening remarks, the Executive Director Center for Information and Development (CITDA), Dr. Yunusa Zakaria Yau, welcomed all the participants, who came from 2/3 of the geographical zone, which includes Northeast,(Borno and Bauchi) Northwest (Kaduna and Kano), and North Central (Plateau and Kogi)

With 3 successful participants, who are called the Covid-19 Champions, urged the participants to give their maximum support and cooperation, while the training unfolded.

While facilitating on understanding Covid-19 pandemic, generating fake narratives, countering covid-19 and vaccines, Dr Hassan Shuaibu Musa, from Tafawa Balewa University in Bauchi State delivered a paper on, how covid-19 works, its vaccine and the importance of taking the vaccine.

In a paper on Fake Narratives Countering Covid-19 and its Vaccine, Mr. Austin, discussed extensively on how the vaccines work.

The highlight of the training includes group discussions and presentations by the Covid-19 vaccine Champions and among others.

BREAKING: GIZ, OFFICIALLY HANDS OVER DRAFT OF PLATEAU STATE AGRICULTURAL POLICY TO MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE

German Agency for International Development (GIZ) has formally handed over the draft of the Plateau State Agricultural Policy to the State Ministry of Agriculture.

Receiving the draft, the Commissioner of the Ministry, Hon. Dr. F. Hosea, expressed happiness saying it is from the bottom of his heart.

In his remarks while expressing his joy over the draft Policy, Dr. Hosea, thanked God and then, the state Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, for making the achievement possible.

He also appreciated GIZ and other staff of the Ministry for putting all hands on desk to see to the success.

Dr. Hosea however, disclosed that he has been worried over the non-availability of a working document or guideline for the Ministry, since he assumed office at the state secretariat.

“I therefore promised to formulate ours for the Ministry and make it spread like the spring water in order to attract more investors to the state.

“With this document, I can now meet those, who have been calling to ask for the state’s Agricultural Policy. The Sky is now the base for the Ministry and all of us”. Dr. Hosea said.

Adding that, “You will agree with me that the Governor has constantly prioritized Agriculture in the state and has been unveiling series of plans to achieve that.

“I am sure that, the Governor will be very glad that we have finally completed this phase.

“I shall submit this draft to the State Executive Council and may be further present it to the Plateau State House of Assembly (PLHA), for it to become a working document.

“We at the Ministry, believe this document will be a business plan for Agriculture in the state”.

Earlier, while presenting the draft today, at the Mini Conference Hall, Planning Department  (MARD), to the Commissioner, Hauwa Mankilik on behalf of GIZ, said, “We engaged in this project to support the Plateau State Government, to see how SMEs in the state can increase their income and create employment opportunities.

“As you know, Agriculture is one of the best sectors for us in the state because we have all the strong comparative advantages. So, it is therefore necessary to see how we can develop the sector.

“For the sector to be fully developed there must be a Policy or guideline on how the advantages can be harnessed.

THE HALL

“For GIZ we saw it as important to support the Ministry and the State, to see how this document would help put things in place.

“I have heard the Commissioner mentioned severally in several fora that, it is necessary for the Policy document to be in place.

“So, we want to say thank you Mr. Commissioner, for enabling this process and this includes the Permanent Secretary and all of us seated here.

‘We have actually engaged several times to see that, this Policy is in place. However, it is not enough that we have a draft copy. This is just a start of the journey! We have just finished the first phase and we have a lot of jobs ahead.

“We will not want to keep this document in the shelf. We must see to it that, it is working, and for it to work, we have to implement it, which means the Perm Sec cannot go to sleep, as I shall always be at his place”.

On his part, the Focal-man for the project and Chief Consultant, Prof. Paul Amaza explained that, the document just completed, has been an accumulation of lots of processes since the past one year, with the huge challenge of lack of adequate data.

While congratulating the Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, the Commissioner, GIZ, the staff of the Ministry and the people of Plateau State, Prof. Paul disclosed that, the document focuses on Crops, elimination of Policy conflicts, value addition and the value chain.

He said to reach this stage, four drafts were made before the present one which is been formally handed over.

He further disclosed that the document has recommended to the State that, at least 10% of the State Budget should constantly be allocated to Agriculture and that the sector should be private sector driven among other recommendations.

ADP, SET TO CHANGE THE NARRATIVES OF PLATEAU POLITICS--HON. BITRUS BOYI

The Action Democratic Party (ADP), a political party created to be a third force to counter the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has revealed that, one of their many objectives as a party, is to change the political narrative in Nigeria, as well as, create machineries to tackle the challenges facing the country.

Hon. Bitrus Boyi Ngah, the Party’s Chairman of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau state, made this known in an exclusive interview on 14th December 2021, with REALITY, stating that, ”Despite the failure of the current administration, the party is changing this political narrative by creating awareness and sensitizing the public through the party’s manifesto”.

Hon. Bitrus, also called on political leaders, the media and the general public to show their support by participating in its forthcoming, ”Appeal Fund Raising of N25million” to be organized by the ADP, Plateau State Chapter, to enable the Party get started towards achieving set objectives.

This he disclosed would take place on Friday 17th December, 2021, by 2pm at BGK Event Center, Along Vom Road.

”As a Party, based on its Manifesto and Constitution, we will ensure that whatever project or blueprint the Government we are taking over from have put in place, we will study it and implement the most important ones that meets the immediate need of the people and also, unlike other Government that make empty promises, ADP won’t fail the people by making unrealistic promises, we will rather make realistic promises that we will fulfill”, the Chairman assured”.

 

PLATEAU: CISLAC TRAINS CSOs, MEDIA PRACTITIONERS, OTHERS ON PROTECTION OF CIVILIANS IN ARMED CONFLICT

To reduce the level of civilian harm in armed conflicts, the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Center (CISLAC) has continued its training of, Media Practitioners, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the Military and Paramilitary personnel in Plateau State.

The current One Day training of CSOs and Media Practitioners, involving the military and paramilitary personnel, took place yesterday, the 14^th of December, at Crispan Luxury Apartment, off Zarmanganda Road, Rayfiled, Jos, with huge attendance.

The choice of Plateau State, according to the trainers is because peace has been murdered in the state again.

The training object was therefore to develop knowledge and skills to reduce the risk of civilian harm, understand risks around civilian protection in conflict, responsible employment of weapons, tracking and assessing civilian casualties and accountability for a range of positions and levels in communities and within security agencies.

The One Day training saw capacity building of the participants on how to conduct assessments of an operational risk of causing harm during military operations and measures to help minimize such risks.

A TEN COMMANDMENT’S MONUMENT BY JANG, WHO IS FACING A N6.3 BILLION STATE LOOT TRIAL? TRULY, HE IS A TWO FACED JANUS!--YAKUBU DATI WRITES

In ancient Roman mythology, Janus is depicted as having two faces. In contemporary times, one man fits the bill.

The building of the 10 Commandment Prayer Altar by former governor of Plateau State, Da Jonah Jang is an attempt to use religion to pull the wool over the people’s eyes in order to cover up for the failings of his administration.

THE TEN COMMANDMENT’S MONUMENT

It is also a decoy to take the minds of the people off the current attempt by the Governor Simon Lalong led administration to recover monies allegedly stolen during the tenure of Jang and for which the latter is standing trial.

The case, which has been on for some time now aims at recovering a whopping N6.3 billion from the former governor and many witnesses have appeared to testify and give evidence that will facilitate justice and hopefully, repatriation of stolen funds.

But as the people are astonished with these testimonies, Jang tries to play on their emotions by playing the religious card.

The offer of a place of prayer is particularly interesting because, the people of Plateau have never lacked a place to pray. Plateau State is the headquarter to many religious organizations with ample number of sites to pray in.

It is therefore surprising that, someone will try to make an issue out of building a business enterprise with a small cubicle for prayer. What however is not surprising is that Jang would again be playing the religious card, as that has been his stock in trade- to use religion to deceive the people.

When he was governor, he relied on this gimmick to deceive the people and now, instead of making restitution, he is at it again!

The most unfortunate aspect was inviting unsuspecting leaders like, former President Goodluck Jonathan, to grace the occasion. Not a single Governor showed up! Even his former colleagues avoided the event like a plague.

This was purely to give credibility to the event, which he knew will not go down well with the average citizen on the Plateau familiar with his antics.

As a self acclaimed pastor, Jang knows very well that, there are certain standards expected of a man, who wishes to please God by building a place of worship and that he hardly fits in the description.

Between 2008 and 2013, when he was in charge, Plateau State witnessed one of the worst spates of bloodshed in its history, with many lives and properties worth billions of naira destroyed.

The situation was so bad that, human right groups had to issue countless cautions to the then government, which saw itself as a party in the conflict and was adding fuel to the crisis by its words and actions rather than calming nerves.

Jang has also not cleared himself of the charges over the N6.3 billion allegedly misappropriated yet, so, he lacks the moral standing to offer a spiritual lift. Offering a house of prayer at this time is the height of hypocrisy.

The question the people of Plateau have been asking about the facility is, where did the former governor get the money to build it?

JANG AND THE EFCC

Can the former governor claim that, the resources for the project were sourced from his legitimate income? If not, does he think by claiming that he is dedicating it to God that he will succeed in covering the eyes of the people with regards to how the funds were sourced?

Is it actually a prayer house or an extension of his business empire with an eye to further milk the people by charging for use of the facility? If that is the case, then what Jang built is a house of idolatory not a prayer house.

The people of Plateau know better and cannot be fooled by the schemes of the former governor.

They deserve a better place to worship, where they can do so for free and they would not have to look over their shoulders to see whether officials of the EFCC are hanging around to confiscate or seal the property while they’re praying.

Part of the monies allegedly diverted by the former governor includes the N2 billion meant for the setting up of small and medium scale businesses on the Plateau.

While he had done nothing to improve the economy of the state, but had rather impoverished the people through his harsh policies and lack of economic plans, it is difficult to reconcile how he can now offer a spiritual lift as a panacea.

It was during his tenure that, thousands of small scale businesses and federal agencies closed down their premises on the Plateau, while he made no attempt to rebuild or bring them back.

The Simon Lalong administration has done much to correct these anomalies with sound economic programmes and people oriented policies.

Governor Lalong has also enhanced commerce and religious activities in the state by improving on the security architecture of the state.

These are the hallmarks of exemplary leadership and not merely playing on people’s emotions.

FRESH ON PLHA IMPEACHMENT: ONLY 11 MEMBERS, REMOVED SPEAKER ABOK. CLAIMANTS TELL COURT IN SUIT NO: PLD/J585/2021

Two members, Hon. Gwottson D. Fom (Member Representing Jos South State Constituency) and Hon. Tyem Pirfa Jingfa (Member Representing Langtang North-North State Constituency), who are Claimants in Suit No: PLD/J585/2021, have told the Plateau State High Court presided over by, Hon. Justice N. Musa … that only 11 members sat in the chambers of the Plateau State House of Assembly by 6.00am on 28^th October, 2021, to impeach/remove the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Nuhu A. Abok.

You would recall that REALITY had reported that, the suit No: PLD/J585/2021, filed on behalf of the Claimants by, E.G. Pwajok (SAN) of Pwajok, Ikowe & Co; of No. 28 Ahmadu Bello Way, Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State, is seeking for an Order of Perpetual Injunction, restraining Hon. Sanda (2^nd Defendant) from parading himself, as the Honourable Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, among other Orders.

The Claimants, (Hon. Gwottson D. Fom and Hon. Tyem Pirfa Jingfa), on the face of the suit are also claiming N200million from the Defendants, as Exemplary Damages, if the suit succeeds.

The suit, which is coming by way of Originating Summons is seeking the Court to determine, Whether by the provision of Order 6 Rules (1) and (2) of the Plateau State House of Assembly Rules 2021, the Plateau State House of Assembly can commence sitting at any time earlier than 10 am in the forenoon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; and earlier than 9 am on Fridays.

Secondly, whether the commencement of the sitting of the Plateau State House of Assembly, between the Hours of 6 am and 7am, on Thursday the 28^th day of October, 2021 was not in violation of Order 6 Rule 1 of the Plateau State House of Assembly Rules 2021 and whether the requirements of Order 14 of the Plateau State House of Assembly Rules 2021 are conditions precedent to be strictly complied with before the removal of the speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, among other four questions. 

In the Affidavit in support of the ORIGINATING SUMMONS, the Deponent, Hon. Fom Dalyop Gwottson, the 1^st Claimant, who is the Member elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to represent, Jos South State Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly State has averred that, only Eleven (11) members, sat to impeach/remove and do other business of the Plateau State House of Assembly by 6.00am, on the 28^th of October, 2021. 

READ THE DEPOSITION IN PART, BELOW:-

1. That on Thursday, 28th October, 2021, at 5.30am I got information by text message from my colleague aforesaid who represents Langtang North-North in the Plateau State House of Assembly, that the House would be sitting by 6.00 am on that day which information I verily believe to be true.

2. That I then rushed to the State House of Assembly at about 6.30 am but was prevented from entering the Complex by well-armed security personnel made up of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps who surprisingly surrounded the House.

3. That I then went to the back entrance but was also prevented from gaining access by other security personnel of the Nigeria Police in spite of introducing myself as a bona fide Honourable Member of the House. I was told by the Policemen that as a member representing Jos South, I would not be allowed into the premises.

4. That two other members, namely, the 2nd Claimant and Honourable NanbolListick representing Langtang North Central State Constituency joined me at the back entrance but the Police also refused them entry.

5. That after about twenty minutes of waiting, we returned to the main entrance and forced our way into the premises at about 7.00 am when we noticed that some of our colleagues were inside the premises.

6. That as I walked into the premises with my colleague aforesaid, I saw eleven (11) of our colleagues emerging from the Assembly building and when I inquired from them what had transpired inside, they said they had just concluded the sitting of the House and had impeached Honourable NuhuAbokAyuba representing Jos East State Constituency as the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly.

7. That Honourable Naanlong .G. Daniel, representing Mikang State Constituency and I immediately exchanged hot words in disagreement on the time of the sitting and the wrong procedure adopted in removing the Speaker. One of the said seven colleagues Honourable Sohchang Zingtim representing Langtang South State Constituency joined us and told me that he was present in the House during the early morning sitting, which information I verily believe to be true, that he disagreed with the other eleven Members, namely:

1. Hon. Saleh Shehu Yipmong representing Dengi State Constituency.
2. Hon. Ismaila .H. Bala representing Kantana State Constituency.
3. Hon. Eric Dakogol representing Qua’anpan North State Constituency.
4. Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Balo representing Qua’anpan South State Constituency.
5. Hon. Kwapfuan Livinus representing Shendam State Constituency.
6. Hon. Ibrahim Baba Hassan representing Jos North North State Constituency.
7. Hon. Yahaya Mavo representing Wase State Constituency.
8. Hon. Abdul .A. Yanga representing Mangu North State Constituency.
9. Hon. Amurudu Huaani representing Bokkos State Constituency.

You would recall that this paper had reported that, the leadership crisis rocking the Plateau State House of Assembly has deepened once more, as the Plateau State High Court presided over by Hon. Justice N. Musa has fixed 31^st January, 2022, to look into the suit No: PLD/J585/2021, before it.

JUST IN: GOV. LALONG TO SWEAR IN STATE ACTING CHIEF JUDGE, COMMISSIONERS, OTHERS THIS MORNING

Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, would perform the swearing in of the Acting Chief Judge of Plateau State, Three (3) new Commissioners, the Chairman and other Members of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) this Monday morning, the 13^th of December, 2021. REALITY just gathered.

According to the schedule made available to this newspaper by, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, dated 12th December 2021, The event would take place at the New Government, House Little Rayfield Jos by 10am.

Adding that, “All invited guests should note that, Covid-19 protocols will be observed please”.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS MONUMENT: PLATEAU PEOPLE AND NIGERIANS ARE TOO ADVANCED FOR THIS DECEPTION---APC MOCKS

 The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has mocked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the recent unveiling of the “TEN COMMANDMENTS MONUMENT” in Plateau State, as the party described the event as, another deception of the PDP.

The APC in a press statement signed by, Sylvanus Namang, the APC State Publicity Secretary, dated 10th December, 2021, while reacting and replying the PDP’s attack on the State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, stated that, “the Plateau people are too advanced for this grand deception”.

 Adding that, “We do not want to go into the details of state funds that were shamelessly deployed into the construction of the monument, which has so many issues surrounding it.

“Now turning the over 5000 sitting outfit into a business enterprise to be hired for corporate and individual functions is a sad commentary on how we use the name of God for commercial purposes.

“If it is really a religious monument as claimed, why is WAYE, a business outfit of the former governor’s wife, also widely believed to have been set up with state funds, being annexed to it?”

The APC also mocked the PDP and the organizers of the event that, of all the personalities and other distinguished guests invited, only former President Goodluck Jonathan, turned up in person.

RE: LALONG SNEAKS OUT OF JOS AS GOODLUCK JONATHAN ARRIVES PLATEAU

The attention of the All Progressives Congress, APC Plateau State Chapter,  has been drawn to a press statement by the PDP in Plateau state under the above caption.

This is just one of its usual mischief, as it lacks what to keep it afloat after its sinking ship.

The APC, however, understands the frustration of the PDP in Plateau state as the hype created around the commissioning of the “Ten Commandments Monument” whatever that means, by former President Goodluck Jonathan turned out to be a monumental failure.

Apart from the former President who attended in person and which we commend his humility for attending that occasion which was a mere jamboree, all other invited personalities including  Vice- President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the PDP governors of Benue and Taraba states cautiously  sent representatives.

What is wrong with Governor Simon Lalong sending a representative in the person of his Commissioner of Agriculture, Hon. Hosea  Finangwai, as he had more productive engagements outside the state.

We do not want to go into the details of state funds that were shamelessly deployed into the construction of the monument which has so many issues surrounding it.
