The Mwaghavul Bible Translation Committee (MBTC), Mwaghavul Mother Tongue Initiative (MMI) in Partnership with Nigerian Bible Translation Trust (NBTT), celebrated its centenary and God’s faithfulness for all the years that the missionaries brought the gospel of Christ to Mwaghavul land.
The epoch ceremony took place on the 26th September, 2021, at Panyam in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State and had in attendance dignitaries, sons and daughters of Mwaghavul land.
It is on record that the missionaries from Britain first brought the gospel of Christ to Mwaghavul land in 1907. The missionaries started the translation of the Bible in Mwaghavaul language with the help of the Bristish Committee and Foreign Bible Society.
The Chairman of the occasion Prof. Pandang Yamsat in his goodwill message said, “I feel excited and happy with the large gathering, everyone from a status of life are here to celebrate with us”.
“If you don’t know your language and speak your language, you will not appreciate yourself, you will deny yourself your identity, English and Hausa will not make you have a sense of identity. It is your language and will also help you achieve great things because you will know your root and it is your root that enables you to achieve great things”. He added.
Pandang also disclosed that, unity of Nigeria cannot be achieved, until each tribe has a sense of identity.
“My heart is full of gratitude because God is for the people of Mwaghavul and the Word teaches me that, the people of Mwaghavul can live in unity because that is our heritage and name.May God help us to live in unity with one another, in Plateau and Nigeria at large”.
Dr. Peace Isaiah Longdet, a partner with the Bible Translation on her part said that, it is a promise fulfilled on the completion of the Bible in Mwaghavul language.
“I stand here to say it is a promise fulfilled, four years ago when there was “PuusCinPlang”, I was here and that was the beginning of the project, which was when we were going to the field to collect our data.
“If you check around the world people are getting interested about their oral literature and many of us felt that if we discuss our oral literature we remember we come from the village, it is said that if you forget your language, you have forgotten your identity, so one way to keep our identity alive is to go back to those things that made us the Mwaghavul people.
“So I discovered that, the literature of the Mwaghavul people need to be told to the world, we need to tell the world that we have our oral literature that was the beginning of the project.
“Today, we have the first language project and this is a publication of 38 stories, folktales and it was published in the United States of America.”
Peace reiterated that, the vision team continuous by working together with the team in order to make publication of children books, animations such as cartoon, and literature.
According to Peace,“This is just a tip of the iceberg, more celebrations are on the way come September 25, 2022, which is another day set for the Mwaghavul nation to come together to celebrate God’s faithfulness and thanksgiving service.
“The day will be as a custom for the Mwaghavul people to remember their covenant with God annually and to leave a legacy and heritage to the generations unborn.”
A Gubernatorial Aspirant under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the coming 2023 general elections in Plateau State, Rtd. Brig. Gen. John Sunday Sura, has disclosed that, his desire and passion is to serve the people and give a voice to Plateau State.
He made this disclosure while fielding questions from Journalists on the 26thof September, 2021, at Panyam in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Brig. John said that, “It’s my desire and passion to serve the people of Plateau State, to give a voice to Plateau State, to put Plateau state on the map of Nigeria and by extension Africa, West Africa and in the world at large”.
The aspirant bemoaned the current security situation in the state, stating that it will not help the economy and image of the state.

“There is also some things that has hampered the image of Plateau state, which is the insecurity here and there. We will say things that are positive, we will also attract people to come to know there is a State that is the best within Nigeria and that is Plateau State. This will invariably help the economy of the state.
“One of the first things to do when I become governor of Plateau State is to unite the people of Plateau State and also defend Plateau State.
“When we have done that, then we can now begin to talk of having people coming to invest and then we begin to talk of resources coming in, then we talk of infrastructural development and so many other things that will affect all the sectors in the state positively”, he stated.
He urged the people of Plateau State that it is a collectively responsibility as all hands must be on deck to give the people the best and not to have any regrets when he assumes the mantle of leadership.
Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State has reassured the Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya, of continuous support of the Plateau State Government and the Northern Governors Forum (NGF) to the army and other law enforcement agencies in addressing insecurity in the country.
Governor Lalong, who made this promise, while welcoming the Army Chief to Plateau State, also said he was delighted by the visit, which is an opportunity for the Government to appreciate the efforts of the armed forces in tackling insecurity in the State especially, in recent months.
He said, “Although the challenges are yet to be overcome, the Army has made enormous progress in various parts of the country where bandits, terrorists, kidnappers and other enemies of State have been dealt a heavy blow”.
The Governor maintained that, his Administration would continue to utilize the Peace Building Agency and other structures towards addressing conflicts and preventing violence.
Earlier, during his remarks the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya, according to a press statement signed by, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor of Plateau State, dated 29th September, 2021, the Chief of Army Staff assuring that, “the Nigerian Army would continue to work with the State in restoring peace and security to Plateau State”.
General Yahaya said, “The efforts of the Governor in promoting peace in the State through non-kinetic means has been very valuable and key to engendering peaceful coexistence”.
He also said, the Army through Operation Safe Haven and the 3rd Armoured Division would not relent in its operational duties of dealing with criminal elements who are working against the peace of the State and country at large.
Farouk sympathized with the State, over the recent attacks and assured that, “the military will not allow such occurrences again, saying the people need to continue to support the security agencies”.
He thanked the Governor for supporting the Army structure in the State and also at the level of the Northern Governors Forum towards overcoming security challenges.
General Yahaya said, “The security challenges in the country will definitely be overcome with the support and collaboration of all citizens”.
Valentine Ozigbo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag-bearer in the 2021 Anambra governorship election has promised to strengthen traditional institutions and promote Igbo traditions if elected governor.
Mr. Ozigbo, who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, gave the assurance on Saturday, September 25, 2021, when he was a special guest at the 2021 New Yam Festival (Iwa Ji) of His Royal Majesty Igwe Sir Benneth Izuchukwu Emeka, Oke-Ebo II of Umueri.

It is on a very sad note that I address the State today to condemn in very strong terms, the violence that has been witnessed in Anambra in the past few days.
Since last weekend, some armed persons have unleashed terror with sporadic attacks on innocent citizens in various parts of the State
From the briefings I have received from Security Commanders, Offices of some political parties, branded campaign vehicles and individuals occupying them have been attacked with killings and burning of vehicles observed.
Other innocent road users have become victims of this menace with many losing their lives and others, their properties.
Between Sunday 26th and yesterday 28th September, 2021 attacks on citizens at Oko, Agulu, Obosi, Nkpor, Nnobi, Nnewi and other places have left about ten (10) people dead including an illustrious son of this State, Dr Chike Akunyili, husband of late Prof Dora Akunyili who was reportedly gunned down yesterday around Nkpor.
These are our own people dying every day and for what reason?
Ndi Anambra, these attacks and accompanying deaths cannot be justified and must stop now.
I have therefore conducted an extensive security meeting and have directed all Security Agencies to step up and confront this monster ravaging our land. I charge everyone involved in the security architecture of Anambra State to take very seriously, this threat to our livelihood and boldly rise to confront same.
Everything that needs to be done will be done and no stone will be left unturned in this effort. My directive to this effect is clear and i urge every security personnel on duty in Anambra State to do his utmost best to secure our people.
To all citizens of Anambra State and every person living and doing business in our State, I urge you now to join forces with us to confront this common enemy. We cannot condone this savagery for any reason whatsoever. I therefore call on all our youths in the State to rise up and protect our communities. Traditional Rulers, Presidents General, Clergy men, Vigilante Groups and all leadership structures must now take responsibility and in conjunction with the Police, Military and other Law Enforcement Agencies, work to restore order immediately.
To reinforce our commitment and seriousness on this issue, I on behalf of the State Government, wish to announce a twenty million Naira (N20,000,000.00) reward for any useful information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators of these heinous attacks on our State. The people behind this must be unmasked and brought to book. I urge Citizens to report to us, anybody bearing firearm who is not a Security or Vigilante personnel, so we can deal with this monster, once and for all. Finally, I urge all citizens of the State to unite in this fight against all forms of terror, intimidation and tyranny. We will not succumb to invaders as I am convinced that no Anambra son will indulge in this kind of heartlessness. I warn all those promoting and participating in these violent attacks to leave our State or pay a high price as we will definitely catch up with them.
To all law abiding citizens and persons living in our State, I urge you to go about your lawful businesses but we must now ALL go to work and take back our State. This is Anambra, the Light of the Nation, where darkness has no place. The events of the last one week will not be allowed to fester and by God’s grace, we shall overcome.
With recent developments, there are strong indications that, there might not be a Chairmanship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State in the forthcoming, Plateau State Local Government Elections, as a Plateau State High Court has granted Orders of Interlocutory Injunctions, restraining the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) from giving effect to the alleged unconstitutional primary election of the APC in Pankshin Local Government Area.
The Plateau State High Court, Pankshin Division, presided over by, Hon. Justice, B. S. Ngyou, upon hearing a Motion on Notice brought by Abafaras Gabriel Ngolong and Rotshak G. Yokden(Plaintiffs/Applicants) pursuant to Orders 42 and 43 of the High Court of Plateau State (Civil Procedure) rules 2020, has granted an Order of Interlocutory Injunction, restraining the APC, being the 1st Defendant, in suit No. PLD/P27CV/M2/2021, whether by itself, its agents, privies of assigns or any other person acting through it, or however, from recognizing or further recognizing, Hon. Audu Kak’mena (2nd Defendant), as the nominated candidate from the primary election purportedly held on the 24th of June, 2021, and/or presenting or submitting his name to PLASIEC (3rd Defendant), as the nominated candidate of the APC for the Chairmanship position of Pankshin LGA of Plateau State in the forthcoming Plateau State Local Government Councils elections, pending the determination of the Plaintiffs/Applicants substantive suit.
The Court also granted an Order of Interlocutory Injunction, restraining PLASIEC (3rd Defendant) from giving effect to the purported primary election of the APC of Pankshin LGA, pending the determination of the Plaintiffs/Applicants’ Substantive suit.
From the face of the Orders of the Court, the 2nd Defendant, Hon. Audu Kak’mena has been also restrained from parading himself or acting or presenting himself as the candidate of the APC for the Chairmanship position of Pankshin LGA in any manner whatsoever, pending the determination of the suit.
“And after hearing, M. A. Abdullahi (Esq) with J. E. Okpe for the Plaintiffs/Applicants, it is hereby ordered that: parties in the suit are directed to maintain the Status Quo Ante, pending the final determination of the substantive suit”. The Court Order further stated.
The matter has been adjourned to the 16th of November for hearing.
With less than 24 hours that a group under the aegis of the Association of Ethnic Nationalities and Communities in Jos North, composed of representatives of Anaguta, Afizere, Hausa, Irigwe, Igbo and Yoruba including some representatives from the Central and Southern Zones of Plateau, gave their support to the candidature and victory of Hon. Shehu Bala Usman, in the forthcoming Local Government (LG) polls, tension resulting from anger, suspicion and confusion have began to trail the source(s) of the group’s mandate.
THE NATIONALITIES
You would recall that, the group which had its press conference at the Plateau State NUJ Press Center on the issue(s) yesterday, 27th September, 2021, was led by one Agwom Atang from the Afezere Nationality in Jos North LGA.
Apart from the support declared and shown for Hon. Shehu, who is running for the Jos North Chairmanship seat on the Platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the group also promised to expose any troublemaker in the LG, if the coming elections are truncated in the Local Government by any means.
REALITY investigative team has however, uncovered that, the Ethnic groups mentioned by the group have already began internal investigations to know, who gave the group the mandate to represent and speak on their behalf.
As at the time of writing this report, most mentioned Nationalities and ethnic group are already in the process of denying the knowledge and existence of the group.
They are also questioning to know the forum or meeting place where the resolution to support the bid of Hon. Shehu was taken.
In another level, pundits in the state are already calling on security operatives to swing into action and make the necessary arrest within the group since they have acknowledged knowing those, who are constantly making Jos North Local Government Area ungovernable.
You would recall that in the text of the press conference of the Association of the said Ethnic Nationalities and Communities, the Agwom Atang had warned troublemakers in the local government area to stay clear of the forth coming LGC election or be named one by one to security agencies to take appropriate actions.
Agwom said, “We advice any one, who is thinking of doing any act that will truncate the peace and harmony in Jos and the state atlarge to think twice because, we know them and if pushed to the wall we will name them one by one to the security agencies for appropriate actions”.
“Most of the trouble makers are not even from Jos, but they are using the few individuals to achieve their evil and devilish acts. Our communities are fully committed to peace in Jos North Local Government Area and we resolve never to leave any stone unturned to achieve this.
“We stand united to this resolve and we shall ensure peace in our cardinal mission in Jos North”.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Tony Olofu has detailed Police Crack Team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police on-the-spot assessment to the scene of were yet to be identified gunmen, who violently attack unsuspecting member of the public at about 7:40pm on Sunday 26/09/2021 along afor, nnobi market. The Team is to identify and apprehend the hoodlums and bring them to book.
Preliminary Investigations reveals on above mention time and date, the attackers using a Toyota Sienna vehicle and a shuttle bus shot and attacked the unsuspecting member on transit along Afor Nnobi Market. The victims were rushed to the hospital and later confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.
They were later identified as one Johnbosco Ojokwu ‘M’ 33yrs, Rapuluchukwu Ugoeze ‘M’ 30yrs and Chukwuemeka Nwokebagu ‘M’ 31yrs. The hoodlums also set ablaze one shuttle bus, one Toyota Sienna and a Toyota hilux.
The CP describe the attack as an unfortunate, calls on anyone with useful information to aid the ongoing investigation to please come forward. He assured that Confidentiality is guaranteed.
Northern States Governors’ Forum (NGF) in an emergency meeting held on Monday, 27th September, 2021, at the Council Chambers of Sir, Kashim Ibrahim House Kaduna has resolved to reserve its comment on the ongoing debate on VAT collection in the country.
According to the Forum in a statement signed by its Chairman, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, who doubles as the Executive Governor of Plateau State, the Forum stated that, it would be subjudice to comment since, “the matter in still before a Court of competent jurisdiction and the Apex Court of the land”.

The emergency meeting REALITY gathered was in line with the Forum’s continuous efforts to address the challenges bedeviling Northern States.
The Forum in its resolutions during the meeting, condemned in totality, the comments and positions accredited to the Southern Governors’ Forum, with respect to collection of VAT and the proposed shift in the occupant of the Presidency, come 2023.
The Forum stated that, “Notwithstanding their comments, the Forum unanimously condemned the statement by the Southern Governors Forum (SGF) that, the Presidency must go to the South.
“The statement is quite contradictory with the provision of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) as amended, which provides that, the elected President shall:-
(a) Score the majority votes;
(b) Score at least 25% of the votes cast in 2/3 States of the Federation.
(c) In the case of run-up simple majority win the election.
“The Northern State Governors Forum (NGF) considered the on-going National debate on the collection of Value Added Tax (VAT).
“As responsible leaders, while we are constraint by the fact that the matter is subjudice, we however for the purposes of educating the public make the following observations:
(a) The judgment of the Federal high Court calls to question the constitutionality of VAT, withholding tax, education tax, Niger Delta Development Commission, National Information Technology Development Agency, 13% derivation, National Economic Development Council and many other currently levied and collected by the Federal Government of Nigeria, Federal Inlands Revenue Service.
(b) Rivers and Lagos State Government had enacted their own VAT laws and the Southern Governors Forum has expressed support for this course of action.
(c) VAT is being confused by these State Governments, as a sales tax. If every State enacted its own VAT Law, Multiple Taxation will result in increases of prices of goods and services and collapsed in interstate trade. VAT is not a production tax like excise, but terminal tax which is paid by the ultimate consumer.
(d) Another area of confusion is ignoring the observation above and its “overall effect”. The reason Lagos account for our 50% Vat collection is because, most of the telecommunication companies, Banks, manufacturing and other trading activities have their headquarters in Lagos with the resultant and wrongful attribution of VAT.
(e) Until and unless the Supreme Court pronounces Judgment on the substantive matter between, Rivers State and Federal Government, the matter is subjudice and Northern States Governors Forum would respect this”.

RESOLUTIONS OF THE NORTHERN STATES GOVERNORS’ FORUM (NGF) MEETING WITH NORTHERN STATES’ EMIRS AND CHIEFS, HELD ON MONDAY, 27TH SEPTEMBER, 2021
The Northern States Governors’ Forum, in its continuous efforts to address the challenges bedeviling the Northern States, convened an Emergency Meeting today, Monday, 27th September, 2021, at the Council Chambers of Sir, Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.
The meeting was also attended by Chairmen of Northern States Traditional Councils led by His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto.
The Forum discussed issues of Peace, Progress, Development and well-being of the Northern States. The Forum took stock of progress made in handling challenges of Banditry, kidnapping, Armed Robbery and Insurgency.
After extensive deliberations, the following resolutions were arrived at:-
The Forum reviewed security updates from the Region and observed the need for a sustained synergy and coordinated efforts between the Federal and Northern State Governments, while noting success of recent measures.
The meeting also noted with concern the constraint of the security services and urged the Armed Forces to embark on simultaneous operations and resolved to share the plans of the Frontline States, come up with common with other Region, and assured of its readiness to work in synergy with the Federal Government of Nigeria in finding lasting solution to the current security challenges.
The Forum appreciated the ongoing onslaught against banditry, kidnapping and Boko Haram especially, in the North East, parts of North West and North Central States. It encouraged the Armed forces and other security agencies to sustain the tempo to enable the security challenges be permanently addressed in the shortest time.
The Forum received updates on the Renewable/Solar Energy Project and noted that, the request for land for the project had been submitted and are being processed by the Northern States.
The Committee had commenced negotiations in a Public/Private arrangement and Sovereign Guarantees to ensure bankability of the project by multilateral financial organizations.
The Forum called on States yet to process the request for allocation of land for the project to expedite action.
The meeting received updates on activities of some Committees constituted by the Northern State Governors’ Forum and noted that, recommendations contained therein are being considered, with a view to coming up with implementation strategies.
The Forum observed that, some Northern States’ Governors had earlier expressed views for a power-shift to three Geo-Political Zone in the South, with a view to promote unity and peace in the Nation.
Notwithstanding their comments, the Forum unanimously condemned the statement by the Southern Governors Forum (SGF) that, the Presidency must go to the South.

The Traditional Rulers Councils appreciated the efforts made so far by the NSGF in addressing the key areas of challenges facing the Northern States, they expressed their willingness, solidarity and collaboration with the Governors’ in addressing these challenges particularly, the issue of security. It was equally resolved that, perpetrators of crimes should be dealt with irrespective of their status in the society.
The Forum decried the high level of conspiracies being perpetrated by some Judicial Officers in releasing/granting bail to arrested criminals. This attitude sabotages the fight against criminality. Therefore, there is the need to develop good and robust intelligence mechanism amongst States and was identified as a panacea.
The Forum calls on Agencies to leave up to their responsibility, Traditional rulers are to equally mobilize their various communities in checkmating the ugly trend of criminality in their domains.
The Forum NOTED the ugly trend in the spread of drugs and consumption amongst the teeming youths and therefore, called on all levels of Governments and communities to raise to the occasion by stemming the tide.
The Forum also called on the Federal Government to expedite action on the well establish National Livestock Transformation Programme, as a spring board in transiting from the Open Grazing system as widely practice in the North.

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has asked Nigerians not to allow the current challenges facing the nation to push them towards de-marketing the country or even advocating for its disintegration as the consequences would not only be uncertain, but unimaginable.
Gov. Lalong, who was speaking at the inter-denominational Church service to mark the 61st Independence Anniversary at the Government House Chapel Rayfield Jos said, “Nigeria still remains a great nation that will surmount its challenges to realize its potentials for greatness”.
He said “While some may use the current travails that the nation is witnessing to cast a shadow of hopelessness and despondency, we should never allow the trials of today overshadow the many successes that our nation has witnessed in the past and the many good things that have continued to happen up till date. Many prophets of doom had prophesied that we shall not live to witness this year and some people representing both internal and external interests have also worked fruitlessly to fulfill this prophesy.”
According to a press statement signed by, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor of Plateau State, dated 26th September, 2021, Lalong said, he was very sure that at the end of the day, Nigeria shall emerge very strong and prosperous, exceeding all expectations and putting behind all disappointments.
All that is needed according to him is for Nigerians to work together in unity, tolerance, sincerity, loyalty and patriotism to ensure that the nation lives up to its God-given potentials.

He said “for far too long, we have focused on our differences and weaknesses, and trivialized or even ignored our strengths and prospects. We seem to dissipate so much energy on defining people based on their religion, tribe, ethnicity and even political orientation completely neglecting their capacities, gifts, talents and willingness to serve humanity. We have been blinded by such myopic considerations that we fail to see that God has a plan for creating us with diversity and yet making us dependent on one another”.
The Governor maintained that, there is no great nation that has refused to embrace diversity, tolerance, excellence, good work ethics, and a national philosophy that is based on honesty, reward for hard work and punishment for deviance.
Lalong insisted that Nigerians cannot embrace corruption, despise hardwork, shun the rule of law, champion nepotism and bigotry, act selfishly, oppress one another particularly the and vulnerable, and yet expect to build a great nation.
Great nations according to him have entrenched good governance, rule of law, tolerance, patriotism, social welfare, respect for human rights and zero tolerance to corruption and indiscipline – an example that Nigeria has no option than to follow if it must make head way.
Reading from the book of Jeremiah 27 and Luke 8:24-25 among other chapters, Deputy Chaplain of the Plateau State Government House Chapel, Rev. Ezekiel Dewan said Nigerians must avoid negative narratives as there is power in the tongue. He said those who give up at difficult times may not benefit from God’s intervention when it arrives as they may be too blind to recognize it.
He admonished Nigerians to pray for God’s mercy on Plateau State and Nigeria, as the Bible directs citizens to not only pray for their leaders, but also for the cities where they dwell. The Executive Secretary of the Christian Pilgrims Commission, Rev. Yakubu Pam has applauded Governor Simon Lalong, over his handling of the recent violence in Plateau State, which restored calm and prevented the situation from getting out of hand.
Rev. Pam, who visited Governor Lalong at the Government House Rayfield Jos, with a team from the NCPC said, “they were in the State to appreciate the Governor for his contribution to the success of the pilgrimage to Jordan which was flagged off in Jos”.
He said the Governor has shown remarkable leadership in pursuing peace and has done his best to empower the security agencies to deal with criminals who are bent on jeopardising the peace of the State and rubbishing the efforts of the Government.
The NCPC Executive Secretary said because of the measures taken by the Governor and based on his penchant for peaceful coexistence and proactive security measures, the situation did not escalate and those who carried out the various attacks are being fished out.
He said, “The Commission is very grateful to Governor Lalong for maintaining his passion for a successful pilgrimage, which led to the historic take-off of the exercise to Jordan from Plateau State for the first time in the history of pilgrimage”.

Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos, the state capital has struck out the Suit instituted by Bleneson Services Limited against the Plateau State Government, Plateau State Ministry of Finance, STL TRUSTEES Limited and United Capital Trustees Limited.
The Court presided over by the Chief Judge of Plateau State, Hon. Justice, Yakubu Gyang Dakwak, on the 24th day of September, 2021, struck out the Suit following the success of the Notice of Preliminary Objection (PO) filed by Paschal Mammo Esq. Counsel to the Joint TRUSTEES to the Bond used to execute the Project, STL Trustees Ltd and United Capital Trustees Ltd, sued as 3rd and 4 th Defendants respectively in the Suit.
You would recall that, the Joint Trustees had challenged the Jurisdiction of the Court to entertain the Case on the ground that, the Claimants failed to file the mandatory Pre- action Protocol meant to disclose on Oath, the step, if any, they took to settle the dispute before approaching the Court.
In its Ruling on the Application, the Court held that, the failure to take those mandatory steps as required by the Rules of Court is a fundamental vice, which robbed the Court of the Jurisdiction.
The Court consequently struck out the Case.
It would also be recalled that, on 16th March, 2021, Bleneson Services Ltd instituted Suit No:PlD/J144/2021 seeking to restrain the Plateau State Government from Terminating its Contract with the Company for the construction of various School and Hospital Projects under the LALONG LEGACY PROJECTS.
The Defendants in the matter had earlier explained in a press statement signed by, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor of Plateau State that, 24th September 2021 that, “The institution of the Suit by Bleneson Services Ltd was after the Service by the Government of Plateau State of a 30-day “Notice of Termination of Contract” on the Company on 9th March,2021, following the failure of the Company to deliver a Phase of the Project whose delivery, going by the Work Plan signed by the Parties, was 31st December, 2020 and the prospect that going by the slow pace of work by the Contractor, it was practically impossible for it to deliver the last of the Projects by 31st December,2021as agreed, with the projected earliest completion date being December, 2024”.
Adding that, “The Plateau State Government had therefore issued the Notice of Termination in exercise of its right to do so as provided under the Contract, where there is a failure of performance by either Party.
“Bleneson Services Ltd had, upon receipt of the Notice of Termination, without approaching any of the Defendants for Settlement, as required by the High Court of Plateau State (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2020, rushed to Court to file the Suit.
“With this development, the completion of the Lalong Legacy Projects in various parts of the State is in sight as Governor Simon Bako Lalong has consistently maintained that the projects will be completed before the end of his administration”.

The member representing Njikoka 1 Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Timothy Ifedioramma has revealed reasons why he dumped the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) to All Progressive Congress (APC).
Ifedioramma in an interview after plenary said there is always a cause for actions, which always has cause and effect.
“The reason(s) behind my defection is because of the mis-management of success. APGA as a party has mis-managed success. The core spirit of the party which is “Be your brother’s keeper” is no longer there.
“When people are hurt, nobody goes to find out why they are hurt. This has made a lot of good people to leave the party. There is a group called ‘AAA’, which is “APGA Aggrieved Aspirants” nobody is looking at that direction or cares to know about their grievances and address them. That brotherly spirit has been lost.
“My defection is as a fall out of mis-management of the governorship primary election. That is the result of what you are seeing and will still see in the future.
“It’s regrettable that a party and family that I have joined to build for over sixteen years, that I wake up one day and walk away. It’s not easy. It was a tough decision, but nobody really cared to know what the really issue(s) are.
“My defection was a fall out of misconduct, mishandling and mis-management of the primaries in APGA and simply because I was supporting another candidate in the person of, Rt. Hon Chukwuma Uduoji, a man, who is APGA’s leader in the national assembly caucus.
“I was invited by the re conciliation headed by, Sen. Victor Umeh, but all members that constitute the committee are also aggrieved and at the end of the day, we didn’t achieve anything.
“There’s is no sincerity in the whole system. There are different speculations that, I was giving money to join APC. All of these are big lies. With the present circumstances, I will rather pay APC money to join them. Until the issues are addressed, there will be more defection. Ifedioramma concluded.
Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has advocated for an intensification of the road safety culture among Nigerian road users particularly among those who drive or intend to drive.
Governor Lalong was speaking at the 10th anniversary of Kwapda’as Road Safety Demand (KRSD) Foundation a Nonprofit Organization founded in honour of late Prince Kwapda’as Rangna’an Dongban, son of the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem.
According to a press statement by, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor of Plateau State, dated 23rd September 2021, Governor Lalong, while commending the President of the Court of Appeal for establishing the Foundation, said, “she has used the painful story of the tragic death of her son in a motor accident, to raise awareness and education to halt further needless deaths on Nigerian roads”.
He said the fact that many people are on the road without the requisite knowledge and experience of driving is very disturbing as many accidents occur because of recklessness and ignorance. Time he said had come when people must be conscious of the rules of safe driving and also promote it whether they are driving or not.
He stated that, “Plateau State has continued to work towards improving the safety and efficiency of public transport which is a major economic driver. A bill for the establishment of a transport management commission he said has been approved by the Plateau State Executive Council which is before the House of Assembly for legislative action”.
Founder of KRSD Foundation, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem said for the past ten years, the foundation has made efforts to bring to the fore the needless sufferings and deaths that are foisted on innocent citizens due to the careless actions of drivers who either refuse to obey traffic regulations or fail to take care of their automobiles.
She said her story has served as a pivot for further highlighting the issue of road safety culture among Nigerians through the many programmes and engagements that have been organized at different levels.
Justice Dongban-Mensem thanked Governor Lalong and other stakeholders in and outside the country for supporting the foundation to carry out its vision for a more safe and secure road transportation.

Some Concerned residents of Birshin Fulani Community in Bauchi state have lamented incessant killings and kidnappings by gunmen, appealing to relevant authorities to rise up to the occasion and defend them.
In a press statement signed and issued to journalists on Sunday by Abdulhamid Jibrin Birshi on behalf of the Concerned Citizens, the community, noted with dismay that despite the incessant attacts on them, no top government official have found it necessary to visit and commiserate with them.
According to the Concerned Citizens, on September 9th 2021, unknown gunmen struck Birshin Fulani community, killed a staff of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi and his neighbour who were resisting being kidnapped by the gunmen.
They said that the kidnappers, after killing the Imam, abducted his son and one other individual and only released them after a heavy ransom was paid.
The Press statement added that, few days after the first incident, the gunmen struck again, shooting sporadically to scare residents and abducted two more people.
They said in another incident, which is the third the kidnappers stormed the community and kidnapped another individual, Adding that the fourth and the latest incident happened on Thursday the 17th of September where they ransacked the community, kidnapped 8 month pregnant wife of an AIT staff.
The statement which further explained that all the attacks were Carried out in less than two weeks with the total number of two deaths a four persons been abducted.
On the latest kidnap incident, the concerned citizens said that the gunmen are demanding 50 million as ransom, adding that “they have only downsized the money to 45 million after repeated pleas from the husband.
According to them, “the gunmen have given a 24-hour ultimatum to the husband to give them the said amount or get his wife killed”.
They said: “report reaching us this morning is that our neighbours, Anguwar Kanawa, just a few metres away from us were equally attacked by the same gunmen. It took members of the vigilante several hours before they were able to repel the gunmen”.
“These incessant incidences of kidnapping by a gang of 10 AK 47 carrying gunmen seemed to have defied solution”, the Press statement noted.
The concerned citizens while expressing dismay over the inability of those at helms of affairs from lowest to the highest position who usually seek for their votes during campaigns to do the needful said only the Deputy Speaker of the state assembly paid a condolence visit.
“None of our elected office holders finds it worthy to either sympathize with us or help take a concrete measures that will guarantee our safety and security from the killer gunmen who find pleasure in destroying our hard-earned peace”, they lamented.
The statement said as a result of the incident, several wealthy individuals have started deserting community and are scampering for safety in different places, to evade the kidnappers.
The concerned citizens who said many residents now sleep in the bush out of fear of the unknown and due absence concrete measurea to repel the gunmen, noted that there have been no support for the community from the government
“From the member of the State House of Assembly, Danlami Kawule to the House of reps, Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi, to the Senate member, Lawal Yahaya Gumau including the Governor of Bauchi State, we did not seeing any concrete support from you people to help us move out of the current security limbo we are in as a community”, the said.
The concerned citizens also decried the inability of the political office holders to pay either personal or official visits in sympathy and solidarity to the people of the community.
According to them, they are now leaving at the mercy of killer gunmen which reminded them that they are only relevant when their votes are needed.
“This show of unpatriotism and empathy by these leaders across the cadres mentioned is a further reminder that, “We are on our own” when tragedy befalls us. This show of “I don’t care attitude” is highly unfortunate and regrettable”. They further explained.
The concerned citizens who reminded leaders across all the cadres mention earlier that power is transient, pointed out that, any position they are occupying today have once been occupied by someone, and today history has pushed them aside.

The Northern Governors Forum (NGF) has described the death of former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Obadiah Mailafiya, “as a great loss to the nation, as well as, the entire Northern region”.

Rotract Club of University of Jos in collaboration with Global Warming Shield Foundation, Plateau State chapter and others joined hands in commemoration with World Clean Up Day:
The exercise, which took place at Anguwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, saw youths from different organization coming together to clean up the environment.
While addressing the participants and also briefing the participants on the activities of “Plogging Nigeria”, Theresa Pegoelong, highlights some of the objective of the organization, to include basically, the “Promotion of the culture of responsible waste handling and physical mental exercise to fit people in clean environment”.
While speaking on behalf of Rotract Club in Jos, Onah Nathaniel said, #WorldCleanupDay exercise in Jos, Plateau is brought by the Plogging Nigeria, GreenWithGrin and the Rotaract Club of Jos.
You would recall that, this exercise was carried out last year in more than 20 locations, with over 450 participants, and more than 600 bags of wastes weighing over 2 tones were collected.
In the field, Plogging Nigeria, also enjoined other youths to be part of the clean up exercise.

Bauchi State would soon benefit from the mass housing scheme of the North East Development Commission in which, 500 housing units would be constructed in the state in order to reduce housing deficit.
The North East Youths and Elders Peoples Forum which made this known in a press release in Bauchi on Wednesday commended the Managing Director and CEO of the Commission, Mohammed Goni Alkali for executing meaningful projects in the North East Zone.
The press statement, signed by the National President of the Forum, Alhaji Salihu Magaji pointed out that, “since its establishment, the Commission has carried out massive rebuilding projects on houses destroyed by the activities of insurgents”.
According to the Forum, the foundation’s laying ceremony of the 500 hundred housing units in Bauchi would be performed by Governor Bala Mohammed of the state on Thursday in addition to Flagg off of distribution of food and non-food items.
The Forum said, “the NEDC under Alkali will also visit two gigantic historic roads that have defied previous administrations will be constructed by the Commission in Bauchi State”.

As the matter between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) continued today, the 14th of September, 2021, the PDP has urged the presiding Judge, Hon. Justice I. Kunda, to look into his file and find that, the Defendant has already put in a new Counter Affidavit, which it intends to use and replace the earlier one, alleged to be toxic with.
The PDP, through its Counsel, Edward Pwajok (SAN), who led S. G. Odey (Esq), S. Oyawole (Esq) and 7 other lawyers for the Claimant, said the process (the new Counter Affidavit) is already in the file of the Court, without the leave of Court.
You would recall that, the PDP had yesterday, the 13th of September, 2021, urged the Court to dismiss the Notice of Preliminary Objection (PO) filed by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) in Suit No. PLD/J250/2021, which is a response to its Originating Summons, filed on the 6th of July, 2021, for being allegedly toxic, when the matter came up for hearing.
This line of objection came when the Counsel to PLASIEC, G. S Pwul (SAN), request to withdraw the PO and asked the Court to strike out same.
In his vehement objection to the application, Counsel to the PDP, Edward Pwajok (SAN) had described the PO as toxic and vexatious and that, “the best the Court can do to it is dismiss the PO”.
However, owing to the authorities cited by, Pwajok (SAN) in urging the Court to out rightly dismiss the PO the Court had adjourned the matter to today, by11am, to enable the Counsel to PLASIEC respond.
In his response today, the Counsel to PLASIEC, had argued that the authorities cited by the PDP, were not decided on the grounds that, an objector cannot withdraw his application, even when issues are joined.
He said the PDP must demonstrate and go further to show why the withdrawal cannot be granted.
Garba Pwul (SAN), Counsel to PLASIEC submitted that, “The issues and the authorities cited are not related and hence, goes to no point, as long as the Claimant has opportunity to respond to the process to be filed.
“This means that, they cannot claim to be over reached. Furthermore, the objection is already in our Counter. So, where is the foreclosure?
“Until we come to the application to be filed, the PDP cannot complain of the application or over reaching.
“Because they have filed a response to the process, cannot constitute an abuse. There is no practice banning the filing of new applications in a matter. The old one must be withdrawn before the new one is introduced to the Court.
“The PDP submitted that, our application is toxic and now we want to withdraw the toxic material. Even if we have filed two Counter Affidavits, it is trait that we should choose which to adopt.
“We urge the Court to allow the matter to be heard on its merit.
“When objection is based on Law, there is nothing to hide. Assuming we cannot withdraw the Counter. We urge the Court to hold that the Counter can stand.
“In conclusion, I urge the Court to dismiss the objection of the PDP for being a complete misconception of the right to withdraw”.
Reacting on this line and base on the directive of the Judge on whether he has right to look at a process not before the Court, Pwajok (SAN) firmly supported his answer with authorities that, he can.
Hon. Justice Kunda has adjourned the matter to Friday the 17th of September, for ruling.
Anambra State Government has directed banks to resume operation effective Monday, 13th September, 2021.
Governor Willie Obiano gave the directive during his meeting with members of the State Security Council comprising of all security outfits in the state and heads of all bank branches in the state.
According to the Governor who stressed that the sit -at -home compliance affects the Gross Domestic Product, GDP and economy of the state, he pointed out that banks that don’t comply with the directive will be sealed for the whole week.
The Governor, however said that, if such banks don’t open the upper Monday, the bank will be permanently closed.
He assured that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure compliance, saying that adequate security patrol will increase around bank branches and other business ventures across the state.
Governor Obiano, further directed that, “markets will continue to open, as well as commuters involved in transportation business, asking people to have confidence and go about their businesses without fear”.
He further directed the bank branch heads to articulate their bank branches and relevant information to be handed over to the Commissioner of Police, for adequate planning and entrenchment of security, as security operatives will be deployed early in strategic locations to ensure that people move about without molestation.
Ahead of the November Sixth Anambra Governorship election, political parties participating in the exercise have warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to distance self from any shady deals capable of subverting the will of the electorate.
In an open letter to INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, dated 10th September, 2021, after deliberations in Awka, fourteen of the political parties, among other things, maintained unequivocal condemnation and rejection of any attempt by the Commission to use Owerri, the Imo State capital, as what they called “staging-base for the rigging” of Anambra Governorship election, and vowing to use everything within their means to resist such attempt.
The letter signed by the Chairmen of the political parties, including the Anambra State Chairman and Secretary of the Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), Messrs Uchenna Ugwuoji and Eminent Uzochukwu, recalled that, the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, was quoted in the media to have boasted that, “The All Progressives Congress (APC) would deploy all means, both seen and unseen to win the November 6th, 2021, Governorship election in Anambra State”.
The political parties further alleged that, there is an ongoing clandestine recruitment of INEC – Adhoc Staff from tertiary institutions and Universities domiciled in Imo State for the conduct of the Anambra Governorship election. Which to the political parties, further lends credence to the rigging plans, in addition to what they termed “curious and most outlandish the decision” of INEC to use its facility in Owerri, for storage of non-sensitive materials meant for the exercise over destruction of the Commission’s office in Anambra State.
They urged the Commission to use the Anambra State branch of the Central Bank in Awka for storage of materials, even as they recommended the use of the new Anambra State International Cargo and Passenger Airport at Umueri, Anambra State to convey INEC materials, among others.

OPEN LETTER TO PROFESSOR MAHMOOD YAKUBU, NATIONAL CHAIRMAN INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION (INEC)
On behalf of the undersigned registered political parties participating in the November 6, 2021 Governorship election in Anambra State, we wish to bring to your notice and more so, that of the general public, certain activities, inimical and capable of truncating the Governorship Election in Anambra State scheduled for the 6th of November 2021 to wit:
Prior to now, specifically in February 2021, the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma was quoted in the media to have boasted… “that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would deploy all means, both seen and unseen to win the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State”. While this boast may easily do dismissed as political rhetoric and grandstanding; Governor Hope Uzodimma has uptill date not denied making the statement.
Be that as it may, of serious concern to the undersigned political parties participating in the said November 6, 2021 governorship election are the following facts and information which have come into public domain namely:
The clandestine recruitment of INEC – Adhoc Staff for the conduct of the Anambra State governorship election scheduled for 6th November 2021, from tertiary institutions and universities domiciled in Imo State; as intelligence reports further reveal that ‘members and thugs from a particular political party’ are being issued identity cards of these tertiary institutions/university purporting them to be staff of these high institutions and of more concern is the recruitment of the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Science and Technology Owerri (FUTO) and some staff of the University to perform the functions of Returning Officers at various stages of the said election.
Of further concern to us is the clandestine plan to move specially selected INEC staff in the category of Local Government Electoral Officers (EO’s) from other states into Anambra State to take over from Local Government Electoral Officers (EO’s) serving in Anambra State prior to the election.
As we equally find curious and most outlandish the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to use its facility in Owerri, Imo State capital for storage of (non-sensitive) materials meant for the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State… as announced through the National Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, citing destruction of INEC office in Anambra State as its reason.
However after a meeting of the undersigned registered political parties participating in the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, this Friday, the 10th day of September 2021, we have resolved as follows:
Firstly, we collectively condemn and reject the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to use its facility in Owerri, the Imo State capital for storage of any election materials (whether sensitive or non-sensitive) to be used for the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State… as it is clear to every discerning mind in the public domain that Imo State does not provide a better security environment than Anambra State, nor other contiguous states such as Delta and Enugu States for storage of any such election materials.
Besides in Anambra State, there is a secured branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), as it is in Delta and Enugu States where such materials can be stored.
As we recall, some time ago when the INEC headquarters in Enugu was attacked and destroyed, prior to its governorship election, sensitive and non-sensitive election materials were safely stored at the branch of the Central Bank Enugu from where they were directly distributed to each Local Government Area office in Enugu State.
We are therefore not convinced that both sensitive and non-sensitive election materials for the November 6, 2021 governorship election cannot be stored at the Awka branch of the Central Bank in Anambra State from where they could be moved to the INEC State Headquarters in Awka for distribution to Local Government Areas. Besides, INEC upon official request to the Minister of Aviation, can get these materials air-freighted into Anambra State through the new Anambra State International Cargo and Passenger Airport at Umueri, Anambra State.
Secondly, we condemn and reject the clandestine recruitment of any INEC adhoc staff from any institution in Imo State, as intelligence reports confirm that these staff being recruited to serve as Returning Officers, Presiding Officers and Election Staff/monitors are being screwed to benefit a particular political party; more so in the light of the aforementioned boast by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State. We hereby resolve to resist any election official from Imo State being posted to work in Anambra State at the November 6, 2021 election.
Concluding, we would wish the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to know that we the undersigned, for ourselves and on behalf of our political parties, do hereby unequivocally condemn, repudiate and reject any attempt by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to use Owerri, Imo State capital as the staging-base for the rigging of the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State; as we would use everything within our means to resist any such attempt.
