As Christians across the world mark this year’s Easter festival, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has called on the citizens, irrespective of religious inclinations to pray for the state and the country at large.
The Governor in his 2021 Easter Goodwill Message observed that, Bauchi State and the nation as a whole needs continuous prayers to overcome their myriad of challenges.
Bala, also tasked citizens to eschew bitterness by preaching the Gospel of Peace, Love and Unity while disallowing themselves to be divided by religious bigotry or ethnic affiliation.
A press statement issued to journalists by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on media affairs, Comrade Mukhtar Godado on Friday, urged all citizens of Bauchi to distance themselves from those championing religious extremism whose stock in trade is to cause division.
“Let us live peacefully with one another and must strive to remain as one nation under the guidance of one God”, the Governor pleaded.
The Governor who asked Christian faithful to render special thanks to God for witnessing this year’s Easter, recalled that, in his life time, Jesus Christ preached peace, honesty and love for one another.
While urging the faithful to emulate Christ, the Governor also enjoined them to put the teachings of Jesus Christ into practice which teaches patience and self-denial from all sinful acts.
The Governor called on the faithful use the period for sober reflection and self-evaluation on their dealings with their creator and as human beings to ensure they remain on the right path and make recompense where necessary.
