EFCC vs SEN. JANG & ANOTHER: SEN. JANG, COULD NOT HAVE LOOTED N2BILLION FROM PROJECT1 ACCOUNT—EFCC’S WITNESS, TELLS COURT…AND MORE

The trial of Ex-Plateau State governor, Sen. Jonah David Jang and a former cashier in the office of the Secretary to the Plateau State Government (SSG), Mr. Yusuf Pam continued Thursday, before Hon. Justice C. L. Dabup of the Plateau State High Court, with the witness of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), telling the court that, the 1st Defendant, Sen. Jang could not loot or divert N2billion Naira from the Plateau State Project1 Account with the series of inflows and outflows in the statement of Account.

Mr. Uchenna Innocent Igwe, a Senior Manager and former Head of Zenith Bank, Plateau State Branch, told the court under Cross-Examination that, from the inflows and outflows in the Account’s Statement, “there is no way the 1st Defendant ( Sen. Jonah Jang) could have diverted or looted N2billion from the Account.

Mr. Igwe explained that, this is so because, when viewed from the fact that, the expenditure concerning the N2billion were duly captured in the State Budget, in the resolution of the State House of Assembly and the Handing Over Note he gave to the incumbent Governor and his administration in the state.

Mr. Igwe, who was shown exhibits P21 and P22 being documents tendered by the prosecution, told the court that, exhibits P21 is the Appendix to the Mandate of the Account, while P22 is the Mandate of the Project 1 Account.

He disclosed that, Sen. Jang was not a signatory to any of the documents concerning Project1 Account and that he never authorized and inflows or outflows from the said Account.

According to him, P22 has Mr. Sylvester Dabo, (the General Manager of PLASMEDAN), Mr. Sauka Boyi, (the Accountant General of the State) and Mr. Davou Mang (the Commissioner of Finance) as signatories, while exhibit P21 has Mr. Sylvester Dabo, (the General Manager of PLASMEDAN), John K. Joyi (the Director of Treasury) and Mr. Yam Dung Lodung (Deputy Head of Treasury) as signatories.
