Bauchi State Government has concluded plans to release an application known as BAS-manpower that would allow its citizens input their qualifications.
The Commissioner of Education in the state, Dr. Aliyu Tilde, gave this hint recently, while addressing Journalists after the State Executive Council meeting.
“Part of what transpired during executive council meeting we had is the release of an application that we call BAS -manpower (Bauchi state manpower).” The Commissioner said.
According to him, the application would enable job seekers input their qualifications and their areas of specializations along with their names, their addresses, their experiences, the universities or higher institutions they graduated from.
Dr. Tilde said that, the intention is to build a data bank or data base that Government can leverage on, to recruit at any given moment on a temporary or on a permanent bases the people it would use for the purpose of development.
“Even the private sector will also be availed the information that it needs regarding the manpower capacity of Bauchi state.” He added.
The Commissioner of Education noted that, almost everyone that has diploma and above, be they Nurses, Midwives that are having OND or ND or HND, BA, Masters Degree or a PhD or whatever, old or young.
“There are types of jobs that might need to be carried out by an old man like me, but there are some jobs that can be carried out by young people”, Tilde said.
The Commissioner, who said the data base is there and it is something novel, pointed out that government believes it will be extremely useful in terms of planning.
While stressing that the application will not be domiciled under the ministry of education even though it was developed by it said it will be domiciled at the ministry of budget and economic planning because they will be one that will use it most.
