COVID-19: Bauchi State Govt, Orders 14 Days Lock Down, To Contain Spread

Bauchi State Government has announced the lockdown of the state to curb the spread of Coronavirus disease among the citizenry.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who imposed the lockdown order, stated that, it would be effective from, 6.00 pm, Thursday, 2nd April, 2020.

In the press statement signed and issued to journalists in Bauchi, on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Mohammed Sabi’u Baba, the Governor stated that, the lockdown order would last for 14 days.

The press release noted that, “All borders to Bauchi State will be equally closed”.

“His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the Executive Governor of Bauchi state appreciates the sacrifice of the public in these agonizing times”. Part of the release read.

“He has subsequently directed that in order for the public to secure food items, movement is allowed between 10.00am to 4.00 pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays”. The release further stated.

The Governor however, stated that, the ban does not affect essential services in the state.

The Governor while calling for prayers, appealed to the public to appreciate that the measures put in place are aimed at curtailing the Coronavirus outbreak that is threatening lives.
