The alleged in house-coup by the members of the State Executive Council (SEC) of the Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has finally succeeded, as the Acting Chairman of the chapter, Hon. Amos Gombi, has bowed to pressure and request of members of the party from the Northern zone of the state and has been replaced.
Hon. Gombi, disclosed this development during the state chapter’s SEC meeting today at the PDP state secretariat in Jos, as he accepts to bow out.
According to him, while reading part of the communication he intends to send to the National office of the party, he said he is replaced by Hon. Yakubu Bot Chocho, the State Organizing Secretary.
The SEC has also adopted the position as contained in the letter through a voice vote after a motion was moved for its adoption by Hon. Edward Pwajok (SAN).
However, elders, leaders and other fathers in the chapter have called on all members to remain calm and show love to each other, as the party moves towards the party’s planned congresses.
Those who spoke during the meeting include, Sen. Ibrahim Mantu, Sen. Jonah Jang, Sen. Jeremiah Useni, Hon. Mwantkon (Reps).
You would recall that, at the initial stage of the leadership conflict, with Hon. Amos Gombi, members of state SEC had earlier adopted Hon. Chris Hassan, who was unanimously presented by members of the northern zone, as the replacement for Hon. Amos as an Acting Chairman, was vehemently rejected and termed as a Coup by those opposing the removal of Hon. Amos.
