RESILIENCE AGAINST CONFLICT MERCHANTS: PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT COMMENDS CITIZENS

Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has praised the resolve of citizens in the state for resisting merchant of conflict from being lured into violence.

Governor Lalong, while reacting to last Sunday’s unfortunate incident around Dutse Uku , in Jos North Local Government Area of the State, said, the ability of residents to work with security agencies to prevent it from spilling to other areas of the state is a testimony of the deepening peace building efforts of the government and people of the state.

According to Governor Lalong, “This behaviour has given the state and its people a positive image and should be sustained.”

Governor Lalong in a message through the state’s Commissioner of Information and Communication, Mr. Yakubu Dati, implored citizens to resist the temptation of being drawn back into the ugly past by being vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour or persons to relevant authorities.

He commended security agencies for bringing the situation under control within the given area where the incident happened.

Governor Lalong added that, “Purveyors of bad news, who had gone to town about another crisis in the state have been put to shame, as citizens stood together to defeat the ghost of war mongers.

The governor assured the citizens of the state of better days ahead, as his administration continues to works with citizens and security agencies to prevent criminal activities in the state.
