The gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) Gen. Jonathan Temlong has continued to receive decampees from the APC, PDP and the SDP, as the party takes its door-to-door campaign to Wase and Langtang North Local government Areas yesterday.
REALITY’s Eunice Maina, reported that, the door to door campaign train kicked off at the Emir of Wase’s Palace, where Gen. Temlong, described the visit as home coming.
The General told his audience, that he was happy to be back home, while pointing at the road to his then house.
Gen. Temlong said that, “I was born here in Wase and grew up here. I am however here to officially inform the Emir about my aspiration. I am here, humbly, to seek his Royal blessings again and to speak to the people of Wase.”
Explaining his strategy to the Emir, Temlong said the ADP has adopted the door-to-door campaign and not the usual elaborate ones in other to reach the people at the grass-root in the state more effectively.
According to him, “His vision is to restore peace to the state and fast-track its development”.
In his response while welcoming the ADP team, the Emir of Wase, HRH, Dr. Muhammad Sambo Haruna, who was represented by the Waziri Wase, Alhaji Muhammad Badamasi Mahmud on behalf of the Emir, said, “We have a long standing relationship with you. Whatever we can do to your success, we will do it. I will deliver your message to the Emir when he returns. Whatever you want from our people, you will get it from them. They will go with you for the door-to-door campaign.
“You have our support!”
The team later left for Wase Town Hall where a mammoth crowd gathered to welcome Gen.Temlong and the campaign team.
In his promise to them, Gen. Temlong told the youths of Wase that youths were going to be the first in his government’s appointments, while emphasizing that he would also organize Town Hall Meetings across the state, with a view to listen to community problems, since he has plans to “Adopt a bottom-up approach”.
He, however, promised to provide water to the communities and ensure irrigation system to boost agricultural production, if elected, thereby turning the land of Wase to be a land of “Wealth” .
Adding that, “We will provide loans to women and empower them through entrepreneurship.
We hope to construct roads, build and equip schools for our children, build and equip modern hospitals and provide portable drinking water for the people.”
He also cautioned that people should discard any information from anybody that he has stepped down for another candidate from any Political Party in the contest.
At Kadarko in Langtang North, our correspondent, Eunice reported that the team visited Ponzhi Kadarko 1, HRH. Lot Ndem where the ADP’s gubernatorial candidate, Jon, as he his fondly called, congratulated the Ponzhi for what he described as “a well deserved promotion to a second class chieftaincy title”. He noted that it was long overdue, but better late than never.
Temlong said, “We are here to congratulate you and seek Royal blessings and to talk to our people.
“I have three policy-thrust, which are Security, Sustainable peace and Development and Progress. We want to restore peace. This place can feed the whole of Plateau and even beyond, but because of insecurity you can’t have water. We saw children bathing inside water where people drink while coming here. Water comes first before road. We will come to you and you will tell us what you want in order of priority and we will do them”.
The Ponzhi appreciated the team for the visit and pledged his support to the success of the election.
