The All Progressives Congress (APC), Plateau state Chapter, yesterday, 4th of February, 2019, at the Shendam Mini stadium in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau state, flagged off its Southern Zone campaign rally in the Southern Zone of the state amidst a large crowd, as it was some form of home coming for the gubernatorial candidate of the party Governor Simon Bako lalong, who incidentally, comes from the LG.
Gov. Lalong, in his speech, assured the crowd that the APC is working in the right direction of development and urged Plateau people not to miss the opportunity they now have, by voting a wrong party.
According to Lalong, the APC is working towards the path of development in boosting education, with the school feeding programme in primary schools, the N-Power programme for the unemployed graduates, reviving of the agricultural sector, provision of fertilizer and tractors for farmers at affordable prices and many more.
He said, “Now do you want this government to leave? Some people want to deceive the masses that they are retired Generals. In the past we saw what the government of a general did, rather they left us with ethnicity and religious difference and the APC government has brought peace back to Plateau state, putting behind the past. So will you allow them to come back?
The APC gubernatorial candidate, Governor Lalong, while appreciating the large crowd present at the rally in Shendam, informed them that a few days ago when President Buhari came to Jos, the state capital, the same kind of crowd that welcomed him, as the state governor and the President, made the President overwhelmed that he could not speak, as words alone may not convey his feelings.
“Now with this crowd at home, I am happy and believe that we are going to win”. Lalong said.
On his part, the Chairman, APC Plateau state Chapter, Hon. Letep Dabang, urged the youths to come out en mass and support the APC in the elections. He used the occasion to welcome decampees to the APC family.
“I urge the youths to come out and vote the APC, as you are affected more whenever workers are laid off or engaged to work, and this government has in the past few years engaged and re-engage workers in the state that is why I am making emphasis that youths should come out en mass to vote for the government to remain in office.
“You will be losing a lot, if you don’t vote for this APC government in this general election”. Letep sounded.
The DG Campaign and Chairman of Shendam LGC, in their speech said they were happy to see the massive turnout of the people of the zone, as they worked hard to mobilize the crowd, and thanked the people for coming out to support their own.
