PDP FLAGS OFF CAMPAIGN IN PLATEAU STATE, PROMISING TO RESTORE PLATEAU STATE, NIGERIA

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Plateau state chapter yesterday 8th January, 2019 in Mangu in Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) of the state flagged off its campaign for the 2019 General Elections with the party saying they are pursuing a “RESTORATION” agenda.

Chairman of the PDP in Plateau state, Hon. D. T. Sango, who presented the Party’s Gubernatorial Candidate Sen. Gen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni, as well as, other candidates the party’s flags for the 2019 general elections, explained that the gubernatorial candidate, Sen. Gen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni, was not presented with a flag as he had already been presented with one in Ilorin by the National Chairman of the party.

Sen. Gen. J.T. Useni, while appreciating the State Party Chairman and other members of the party said the party is pursuing a “Restoration Agenda” anchored on a six point agenda.

“Mr. Chairman, great party men and women, drawing from the philosophy, principles and values of our great party, the Peoples Democratic PARTY, we are pursuing a RESTORATION agenda. This seeks to entrench programmes and policies that would ensure the common good of our people, anchored on a six point agenda, and within a Four-year period (a single term). This is in line with the zoning arrangement specially adopted for the purposes of 2019 general elections”, Sen. Useni said.

The six point agenda according to the party include sustainable peace and security; socio-economic development and tourism; women and youth development; agro-allied, solid minerals and rural development; education and human capacity development; and health care services.

He went further to say, “My fellow Plateau people, let no one be left in doubt, we are setting out on this mission, prepared, with a vision as we have appraised the Plateau challenge. We are driven by a conscious and patriotic zeal to address the ills that have bedeviled the state in the last three and half years. My contract with Plateau people is to restore what is lost.”

The PDP gubernatorial candidate used the occasion to promise all that contested the primaries with him of working together and responded to Governor Lalong who had said he would die for President Muhammda Buhari during his party’s campaign flag off.

“I want to assure my colleagues, those I contested with, that there is no victor, no vanquish, we are all the same. I want to tell you also that some say they will die for somebody, me I will die for Plateau”.

Earlier in his welcome address, state Chairman of the PDP, Hon. D.T. Sango thanked all present especially all that contested in the primaries but still came with their supporters to the flag off. He said all those that made the party to lose in the 2015 general elections have asked for forgiveness and the party has forgiven them. He assured all of the party’s respect and promised to work with all the party members.

Present at the flag off was former governor and current Senator representing the Northern Zone, Sen. Jonah Jang, who also assured the party of his full support saying, “I am going to lead the campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau state, let Lalong start parking from the government house, I did not build that government house for him. People say you don’t know the value of a wife at home until you marry a new wife”.
