By: Valentine Adese (Jos),

The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has promised to showcase that there are opposition political parties in the state, while reacting to a reported statement, accredited to the Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, that the PDP does not exist in the state.

The PDP Chairman, Hon. Damishi T. Sango, while in a press brief to announce the commencement of the party’s campaigns at Mangu in Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) of the state said, “Governor Simon Bako Lalong has claimed that there is no opposition in the state and that PDP does not exist in the state, right? I promise you that he will soon see opposition on the Election Day.”

The Chairman also alleged that the Governor has plans to balkanize the PDP in order to win the 2019 gubernatorial election by allegedly sponsoring one of the in-laws of the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Sen. J. T. Useni in another political party.

Sango said, “Governor Lalong wants to balkanize the PDP by using Gen. Jonathan Temlong, one of the In-Laws to our gubernatorial candidate. But, all these will fail, as Plateau people are now wiser than he thinks”.

Explaining further in his press briefing text, Hon. Sango said:-

SANGO

“As I sit before you this day, I am humbled by the friendship, partnership and support you gave to my colleagues and I in 2018.

“We wholeheartedly accept your partnership with extreme gratitude, and looking forward to a more robust working relationship ahead of the much awaited 2019 general elections.

“You will recall that on Friday, 21st December, 2018, I inaugurated the State Campaign Council of our great party for the 2019 general elections.

“At the event, I expressed the gratitude of the leadership of the party to all, including those, who aspired to different positions, for cooperating with us to ensure the success of the October, 2018 party primaries.

“I also informed that August assembly that, mindful of the need to work as a united family, we sought and had audience with all the gubernatorial aspirants that lost to our flag bearer.

“Conscious of the need for inclusion, all Gubernatorial Aspirants are members of the 41 members’ state campaign council.

“Following on the great understanding demonstrated by the twelve Gubernatorial Aspirants, those, who directed their campaigns are members of the thirteen committees that have been put in place to ensure the campaign council achieves its set objectives….

“Gentlemen of the press, let me state here unequivocally that we are setting out well prepared, with a vision to restore our dear Plateau state. We are driven by a conscious and patriotic zeal to reverse the downward slide that has become the order of the day in the state in the last three and half years.

“Today, we are witnessing a situation where there is a sudden jolt by the Lalong administration that had been sleeping all this while to hoodwink the people of the state into believing it is a caring government. There is a rush toward pocketing of contracts here and there in a desperate attempt to get the attention of unsuspecting plateau people.

“The truth is that today, our people are wiser than they were yesterday, and would make informed decisions as they go out to cast their votes”.
