More Lawyers, who had sympathy for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Plateau State chapter, seem to have abandoned the party, as the party makes efforts to challenge the results of the recently concluded Local Government (LG) elections, by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) at the Tribunal set up by the state government.
You would recall that REALITY had earlier reported that most lawyers in the state had expressed fears that they might not appear for the PDP, as they hardly pay their fees.
You would also recall that going by the results announced and declared by PLASIEC, the All Progressives Congress (APC) swept the entire Chairmanship seats of the 13 LG Councils where elections held in the state.
On its part at the Tribunal today, which sat at West of Mines in the premises of the Plateau State High Court, the APC was represented by two Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) and other renowned Senior Lawyers in the state.
Among them is Pius Akubo (SAN), Garba Pwul (SAN), S. S. Obende (Esq) alongside their juniors.
REALITY however gathered that, the pre-hearing session for the first 14 petitions slated for today could not hold, as parties in the petition are yet to file answers to the pre-hearing questions.
REALITY also gathered that, the parties in the 14 petitions could not file their answers on the pre-hearing questions today because, the pre-hearing notices served on the parties on the 5th and 6th of December, 2018, indicated that they have 7 days to respond and file.
The Pre-Hearing session for the 14 petitions have been adjourned to 11th Decembers, 2018.
