The Chairman of Plateau State Local Government Elections Tribunal has called for support and cooperation from Petitioners and their Counsels in order to enable the Tribunal treat and deliver just on the various petitions before the Panel.
The Chairman of the Tribunal made this plea during the Panel’s inaugural sitting today, while disclosing that the panel is in receipt of 77 petitions.
The Chairman, Jovita Binjim (CMC), flanked by Jacob Longden and Isaiah Randa, as members, said the Tribunal has 90 days to treat the petitions and deliver judgment according to Law, which therefore demands for speed and support from the Counsels in the various petitions and corporation of the petitioners.
However, while expressing a warm welcome and congratulating the members of the Panel for their appointments, the Chairman of NBA, Jos Branch, Bon Shalyuun Ngyou (Esq), S. G Odey (Esq), Akubo (SAN), pledged the loyalty of members of the Bar to the Panel, as they are calling on the Tribunal to deliver their judgment based on substantial Justice.
It is of note that the Tribunal plans to sit at weekends and public holidays and that 40 days have already lapsed before the inaugural sitting.
