The contest over who occupies Plateau State Government House Little Rayfield, come 2019 has been closed circuited to Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, as the seats of the Gubernatorial Deputies of the major contesting political parties have been zone to the Local Government Area (LG).
While the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) still maintains the incumbent Deputy Governor, as the Running Mate of its gubernatorial candidate, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong, who also the incumbent Governor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is still battling over its choice of Dr. James Dalok.
Coincidentally, both Deputies hail from Mangu LGA.
In a reaction to the selection or appointment of Dr. James, as the running mate to Sen. Jeremiah T. Useni, the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate, a group under the aegis of “People In Support of a Better Plateau” on the platform of the APC in a statement made available to REALITY today has described the step as a big mistake that has given them (APC) a work over match in 2019.
The group in its position in relation to the Deputies stated that, “How can you compare a renown Professor from a Nigerian University, that hails from Mangu and has made the people of the Local Government proud all through his toil in life, with Dr. James, who is hardly know and who school in a less comparative school in Ghana?”
Adding that, “We shall investigate the Doctorate Certificate of the candidate immediately his name is submitted to enable us verify if it was not padded”.
You would recall that REALITY had reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its members in Plateau State have started mocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for its inability to select a Deputy for its gubernatorial candidate, Sen. Jeremiah T. Useni, weeks after it conducted its gubernatorial primary in the state.
Members of the APC, who bared their minds to REALITY over the issue, said that the development is an indication that the affairs within the PDP is more of a power play than the alleged concern for the citizens of the state come 2019.
They said, “If a political party like the PDP and its members cannot resolve on whom to pick or select as a running mate for the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming general elections, few hours to the deadline of submitting such name to INEC, does it not show that the affairs of the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state would not be effectively managed?
“Plateau Citizens must open their eyes to this reality and not be deceived.”
