By: Valentine Adese,

The last is yet to be heard of the recently conducted Local Government Council (LGC) elections in Plateau State, as the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may soon be heading to the Tribunal set up by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, to contest the outcome of the elections.

PLATEAU STATE PDP CHAIRMAN DT SANGO FLANKED BY THE STATE PUBLICITY SECRETARY, SIR, AKANS

The state Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Damishi T. Sango, who disclosed this information during an interaction with Journalists in his office today at the PDP state chapter’s secretariat, also said that a team of Lawyers of the party are already putting finishing touches to the processes.

Giving more clarification on the party’s intension to challenge the results of the election and the declaration of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) made on the 11th of October, 2018, few hours after the election exercises were allegedly concluded, the Legal Adviser of the state chapter, Barr. Binchen Jantur, said the world would be shocked by what the party would unveil at the Tribunal.

According to him, “I have never seen this type of election exercise and declaration of results in my life! The world would be shock to know that results so declared, were still at the collation centers or Police stations, while they were been announced and declared by the umpire in Jos.”

Barr Jantur added that, “In the case of Mangu LG even though the winner was well known to the people, they (PLASIEC) boldly substituted him for the APC contestant.”

You would recall that the Plateau State Government through the Commissioner of Information and Communication, Yakubu Dati has banned all forms of processions in the state and has directed all aggrieved members of the public including political parties, to channel all election grievances to the Election Tribunal been set up by the state government.
