The Executive Governor of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano has urged Nigerians to always remember their leaders in prayers, for wisdom to make the right decision.
Chief Obiano made this statement at this year’s 2018 Independence Day celebration held at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka the Anambra state capital.
According to Obiano, “Today we celebrate 58 years of existence as a country. 58 is a great number. It shows we have come a long way together. We have survived long periods of doubts and uncertainty.”
The number one citizen of an Anambra state, called on politicians to put Nigeria first above their selfish interest especially as 2019 election draws near.
“2019 is close and we should remember that Nigeria is bigger than all, no matter how highly placed you are. As a Democratic country, we must put Nigeria first.
“We must all seek the face of God to guide our nation on the right path and to give our leaders the wisdom to make the right decisions that will be in the interest of Nigeria.
“Nigeria is old enough to handle all its differences in a way that will not affect our corporate existence as one united nation.
“Let us pray that the almighty God will heal our land and grant us the wisdom to manage our affairs to his glory and to the peace and contentment of mankind”, the governor stated.
Other side attractions were march pass by members of the various security agencies, school children, voluntary organizations as well as cultural dance from different schools and callisthenic display from children.
