The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary, slated for today is already heading for the rocks, as it being characterized by huge suspicion, confusion and distrust. REALITY can authoritatively state.

REALITY gathers that some of the chapter’s governorship aspirants have already started showing displeasure, over the planned primary, alleging that one of the aspirants is gaining more advantage even before the actual conduct of the party’s poll.

REALITY gathered yesterday that, the aggrieved aspirants had wanted to address a press conference and in the process, pass a “vote-of-no-confidence” on the State Chairman, Hon. Damishi Sango and request for his resignation owing to their suspicion that he is already supporting one of them to win.

Although the venue of the press briefing was slated for a hotel in Rayfield area of Jos South Local Government Area of the state, REALITY reliably gathered that it could not hold owing to the imposed curfew by the state government.

However, the governorship primary exercise is still holding with accreditation taking place this morning at Treasure Inn, a hotel close the Air Force Base Jos.

You would recall that REALITY had reported yesterday that there were indications that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would be conducting their separate governorship primaries tomorrow in Plateau State.

Coincidentally, both the ruling party APC and the major opposition political party in the state, the PDP, have fixed 10am to start their programmes.

The APC in a Special announcement, signed by the State Secretary of the party, Mr. Bashir Musa Sati, has urged all its delegates to be punctual, conduct themselves in peaceful and orderly manner during and after the primary election.

The governorship primary, which by all indication may be a simple affirmation of the incumbent Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, as its candidate in the forthcoming 2019 general election, is expected to have the following classes of delegates in attendance tomorrow, 30th September, 2018 at Crest Hotel, Airport Road Jos, being the popular Jonah Jang Way:

  3. All state executive members of the party
  4. All statutory delegates to the national convention.
  5. All delegates are advised to conduct themselves peacefully and be orderly during and after the party primary election.

On its part, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a press release dated 28th September, 2018, signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. John Akans (KSM),the party had promised a credible and peaceful governorship primary in the state, come 30th September, 2018.
