By: Valentine Adese,
Information just reaching the news desk of REALITY indicates that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would be conducting their separate governorship primaries tomorrow in Plateau State.
Coincidentally, both the ruling party APC and the major opposition political party in the state, the PDP, have fixed 10am to start their programmes.
The APC in a Special announcement, signed by the State Secretary of the party, Mr. Bashir Musa Sati, has urged all its delegates to be punctual, conduct themselves in peaceful and orderly manner during and after the primary election.
The governorship primary, which by all indication may be a simple affirmation of the incumbent Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, as its candidate in the forthcoming 2019 general election, is expected to have the following classes of delegates in attendance tomorrow, 30th September, 2018 at Crest Hotel, Airport Road Jos, being the popular Jonah Jang Way:
- All principal officersof the federal wards of all the 17 LGAs
- All local government party executive members of the 17 LGAs
- All state executive members of the party
- All statutory delegates to the national convention.
- All delegates are advised to conduct themselves peacefully and be orderly during and after the party primary election.
On its part, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a press release dated 28th September, 2018, signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. John Akans (KSM), has promised a credible and peaceful governorship primary in the state, come 30th September, 2018.

28th SEPTEMBER 2018.
PDP SET TO DELIVER FREE, TRANSPARENT, CREDIBLE AND PEACEFUL PRIMARIES FOR ALL CONTESTANTS IN THE STATE.
This is to inform all aspirants and members of our party that the PDP in Plateau is set and absolutely determined to conduct free, fair, credible and satisfactory primaries for flag bearers into various elective state and national offices beginning Sunday, September 30, 2018.
We reiterate our resolve and commitment to providing a level-playing field for all our distinguished and charitable aspirants.
The party’s leadership in the state under Hon. D.T Sango is indeed very ready and determined to conduct all activities in tandem with the party’s constitution, and to ensure a transparent process across the state.
We congratulate all the party’s aspirants for their positive and inspiring journey so far in moving from one level to another in their quests to serve humanity.
We call on all of them and members of our great party to disregard the rumours that certain aspirants have already been formally endorsed either by some persons or by the party itself.
We assure our members, supporters and indeed Nigerians that the PDP in Plateau has no preferred, anointed or favourite person amongst all our lovely aspirants. There will be no imposition whatsoever.
We therefore appeal to the entire PDP membership and leadership to display the highest level of sportsmanship at the end of the exercise to show party discipline, decency and tolerance as members of one family working together to achieve common goals.
Let us work as a team to support the state executive of our party to collectively deliver memorable, credible and satisfactory primaries.
This will also indicate our preparedness for a sound, convincing and comprehensive victory in the very much expected 2019 general election.
We wish our aspirants and their supporters the best of luck.
Sir John T. Akans ksm fcai
