By: Valentine Adese,

The Plateau State Government has urged the general public to disregard a recent statement allegedly credited to Amb. Yahaya Kwande in which he claimed that the incumbent Governor of the state, may soon defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

GOV. LALONG OF PLATEAU STATE

In a press statement, dated 20/9/18, through the office of the state Commissioner of Information and Culture, Mr. Yakubu Dati, made available to media houses today, the state government said there is no truth in the elder statesman’s comment, as the Governor will continue to remain in the APC.

The Plateau State Government statement in part reads:

“The attention of the Plateau State Government has been drawn to an alleged statement credited to an elder statesman, Amb. Yahaya Kwande, alluding that the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, may defect to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

“There is no truth in the statement and Governor Lalong, who is the sole candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship primaries, has never contemplated nor discussed such disastrous proposition with anyone.

“The general public is hereby called upon to dismiss this evil plot that exists only in the imagination of its promoters.

“This clarification became necessary, so as not to mislead well meaning citizens who have expressed concern.”

You would recall that REALITY had reported that the last is yet to be heard of members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) defecting to the PDP, as Amb. Yahaya Kwande, told delegates for the forthcoming People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential primary, not to be surprised “If Governor Simon Lalong the incumbent Governor of Plateau state and himself, defect to the PDP anytime soon.”

The elder statesman gave this shocking insight of a future possibility, when he accompanied, the former Vice President (VP), Atiku Abubakar to the Plateau State PDP secretariat to woo the delegates to elect Atiku as the party’s candidate for the 2019 presidential election.
