The National Association of Plateau State Students, NAPSS, University of Jos Chapter, has given an, “Exemplary Leadership and Inspirational Award”, to the General Manager of Plateau United Football Club of Jos, Pius Henwan.
Presenting the award to Henwan in his office, President of NAPSS, University of Jos Chapter, Bintim Barnabas said the decision to bestow the General Manager with the award is due to his exemplary leadership qualities which propelled Plateau United to win the prestigious Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) last year.
Barnabas explained that the General Manager deserved the award after making history as the first helmsman of the club who led the team to the League title for the first time in the club’s forty two years history.
He disclosed that the laudable feat is not only for the government and the state, but also to the entire youths of Plateau state who viewed the achievement as an inspiration to them.
Responding, the General Manager of the club, Pius Henwan who was elated with the award, thanked them for finding him worthy for the award and assured them that he will continue to do his best to justify the award.
Henwan urged NAPSS and youth of the state to support the re-election bid of Governor Simon Lalong in order to provide more dividends of democracy to the youths and people of Plateau state.
He donated the club replica jersey to the association and slashed the club gate fee to half to interested members of the association who wish to support the team during the league and Aiteo Cup (FA Cup) matches.
The team Technical Director, Coach Ahmed Ibrahim, Technical Adviser of the team, Kennedy Boboye and captain of the team, Golbe Elisha were also given awards for their efforts in winning their NPFL title.
